I love this place 10

Been lurking on this site since 2015-ish. Have taken online courses, read books, joined groups, a part of several discords ... I'll even venture over to reddit every now & again to try to save a lost soul (usually a lost cause).
Anyhow: I just want to say THANK YOU to ALL Shroomery members.
It is because of this site, that I've had any success with cultivation. The collective knowledge on this site is truly astounding, and the people are awesome!
All I ever hear from people on Discord, YT, Reddit, is "Shroomery people are mean"- such nonsense. I've talked with more like-minded, nice, and helpful people on this site than any other.
I do enjoy the discords I'm apart of.
But they seem to be filled with people that don't engage much (but are highly knowledgeable when they do) or it's people that are soooooo new, they have little to no idea what they are doing. I say, "go to this thread on the shroomery" and provide links. But "people are mean on there" is what they say.
Such a weird and sad narrative about this amazing site, even when I try to "spoon feed" newbs with shroomery links etc or ... or the discord owner or Reddit sub turns out to be a grift.
I've gotten more free cultures of higher quality than most vendors I've purchased from. (Not to say there are not good vendors, there DEFINITELY are, some amazing cultures that are worthy of purchase for sure)
I know I'm "preaching to the choir" here ... but again, Thank you Shroomery. I feel so lucky to be here at this time, with this amount of free info on how to cultivate. Thank you to all the members who have contributed to the collective knowledge kept here.
It's kind of like the "Library of Alexandria", but for mushrooms!

I love this place too, but sadly ""people are mean on there" is what they say" rings true at times.
I've seen new members ask a question on here and be criticised and ridiculed rather than encouraged.

As someone who used to lurk and loves diving through archives looking for those special "nuggets" of info, thanks to all the OG's, TC's, and TI's who have given 20 years+ of info and insight for all of us to learn from.
As far as the "they can be mean" sentiments, you find that on any forum that deals with a lot of technical knowledge and a high learning curve (seriously, this place is tame compared to an advanced bonsai forum I was once a part of).
In regards to seniors being mean/ornery to noobs, look at it from their perspective - how many times would it take to drive you batty b/c some new guy is asking the same question as 1000 others without showing they're willing to take the initiative and learn from the material already available - because I'm guessing any noob question HAS been answered already multiple times over the decades.
To all noobs reading this, this is a PSA from a recently former noob: learn to use the search function. Yes, you have to be willing to search and read for hours, but let me tell you; it's worth it! there's some great shit on this site!

I always tell people that the members are friendly unless you argue with them when they're trying to help you.
I've asked for clarification about old information I've learned and received positive help, but I did it in a way that was polite and didn't sound like I knew better.

I’d rather deal with mean people than people that get their feelings hurt any day of the week!
We give straight answers and don’t let dipshits spread bad information.

I disagree. I am very new here, and in cultivation too, and I am already sick of new members asking questions that are already answered a million times. I've never felt this way in different forums. Moreover, I've not encountered a "mean" person here, I am probably the meanest to be frank. This forum really taught me that becoming a TC is a badge of honour that is so much more than being a good cultivator. I am sorry but I need to get it out, but whoever thinks that Shroomerites are mean, is free to go back to UB, fail again and again, and just ask for guidance those whose advice they followed in the first place. When you enter a new family, you try to get along by their rules first, and after you get to know it intimately, then and only then you may, respectfully disagree.
ps. Yes, I fully understand that I am probably "mean" right now, and I sincerely apologise, but I stand by what I said.

You know, it probably IS just me being sensitive. Other than this site I've got zero internet presence - I don't have Facebook, X, Tik Tok, Reddit etc. and don't subscribe to any other forums. I don't even have a YouTube account.
As such, my perception's based on interactions with people in person and the online world seems terse and aggressive. And yes, I'm an old fogey
