Howdy,
First poster, thanks in advance for the advice.
Found conflicting advice on what these are and if they have any psychadelic use. Keen to know, appreciate the help
Habitat: Growing out of an old stump
Gills: Gold
Spore print color: Rusty
Bruising: Maybe a little, if any.

I've found giant gyms that are active, small aborted pins showed only blue green bruising and I believe they are low potency for huge size once very mature.
These were active but as I described weak And I don't have pics but lil pins showed evident bruising

In Australia?
I agree with the previous identifications as well

Hahaha no problem! Thanks for adding! Was just curious because i've heard reports but nothing definitive, so I was curious about any other potential reports

Lol my bad. Again tho check tiny aborts and pins stuck to base of other large ones for bruising If not seen I wouldn't think active

Yeah I’ve never seen bruising on junonius in Australia. I’m pretty sure it’s consensus that they’re inactive.

Junonius is not active and won't bruise. In North America there are several similar species, some that are active. Junonius does not occur there.

As far as I know, G dilepis is the most common active Gymnopilus species found in Australia, but can't see any reports from Tasmania.

Yes all of this is true. Sorry for just making it more conusing than it had to be lol. G. junonius doesn't produce psilocybin.
The similar G. subspectabilis in eastern United States does. I believe G. orientispectabilis from east Asia also does

I believe the first ones are purpuratus, the others looks rather inactive.

Wow, I love that pic in the first post with those massive mounds of Gymns just popping out of the ground. Amazing.

I think they’re all active species in the inat photos. There are at least a couple of active Gymnopilus sp in Aus.
OP’s are definitely inactive junonius though imo

Why would you think that? Actives normally bruise bluish/greenish when you cut them. These don't.
