Given that it was a t1 with a slightly questionable middle, I would absolutely transfer from the edge.
Yeah, I followed exactly that logic yes. Tnx, appreciate the help!

You definitely donβt want to go 10 days without looking at your plates. Especially a clone plate (if youβre new annd your technique has some work to do) and germination plates. Check every day! You want to take transfer(s) as soon as you see clean growth. Other contaminations (if they do pop up) can quickly override your clean mycelium. Mycelium being stunted by bringing a petri into the light is the most ridiculous thing Iβve heard. Iβve always left all my petris out in the light.

That makes sense yeah It's my first time so I have no idea what's right and what's wrong. I read that you can just leave them out to incubate, but again I don't know for sure what is right or not
Since I don't know if I'm handling them properly yet I would imagine being able to check up on them frequently would help
I guess I'll figure out what works and what doesnt one way or another lol
Thank you very much for your help

Is this mold next to the mycelium? I've been waiting to see if it's going to change colors, but it's been a week and it's still white.

cant tell from the pics but something is up. can you get a clearer shot? your lens is focusing on the top of the plate. shine alight thru the side and tap to focus beneath the lid. if you can.

Sorry, it's a challenge with all the condensation. This should be better.

im still not sure, but i wouldnt use it. i in fact actively advise you not to send that plate to grain. perform a transfer to obtain clean culture, then send.

Does this look normal for a germ plate? Scraped a spore print with inoculation loop, scraped over the agar plate. You can see the two transfers I made as well. I would expect much contamination. Maybe it is there and I just can't see it. My problems are usually around bacteria, not mold plates.

Looks pretty normal to me. Most of my germ plates are actually pretty dang clean.

I am not trying to run anyone down who is trying to help, however, I like to look at post count and time since registering or for a TC (trusted cultivator) tag when seeking advice. There are some experienced folks who are new on this board and give great advice, but for the most part when confronted with conflicting information, look to the documented experience on this board for solid answers.
Good luck!

Hello everyone, Our first post here on the shroomery. 2 years ago we started growing mushroom doing the pf-tek during the covid-lockdown using the shroomery. Recently we have started using agar-plates with the goal of doing a grainspawn in a monotub. Thank you for all for all the knowledge we alread received from you, here is a picture of one of our first agar plates! It is brown because we couldn't find light malt extract.
Greetings, Knut

Hi Team Shroomery.
I want to try Josex's Poke to make an LC. Do I use the normal LME agar plate or the water agar plate as donor?

Why?
Any suggestions on where off the plate(s) to take the poke?
Kind regards and thanks in advance

A clean piece is a clean piece. It doesn't matter what the starting media is if it is going to nutrient broth. Whatever is convenient for you to do is the right move.
