Two bags won't pin and are hard

My first two bags worked pretty well but the next two bags haven't pinned and it's been 8 weeks since I put them in fruiting condition. The cakes have become hard too. I read on here that I needed to increase the fae so I cut holes in both bags two weeks ago. I also read that I should spray the inside of the bags being careful not to spray the cake, which I started doing two weeks ago. They are still hard and not pinning. Thanks for your help.

You might want to try putting those in a water tub or something. Also spraying the surface isn't going to hurt anything at this point. Those bags are probably bacterial and may never fruit. Here is the link for the water tub. I would treat them like a gaint BRF cake. https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/26601054#26601054

Thanks for the help. I have the two cakes submerged in spring water for 24 hours then I will coat the cakes with coir and put them in an airtight bin on a rack with an inch of water on the bottom. I'll update you in a week. Thanks again.

I read about the fae here so I cut several holes in the bags a few weeks ago. I'm only going to post questions after I've researched solutions offered on shroomery and tried them. This has got to be the most helpful website ever and thanks for the reply.

I just opened the lid to put the coco coir onto the cakes and noticed one of them had several pins on it. They are all side pins and I had placed a rubber band on the bag it was in to prevent side pinning so that's probably related some how. Wow, I didn't think these cakes could be salvaged. Thanks for the help

This is one of the cakes I dunked when I tried that recommendation from a guy in shroomery. I think it was called tub tek. The stuff on top is coco coir. It is part of tub tek but I was supposed to roll the cake in it but it didn't stick thankfully because the top doesn't even have pins yet. Can someone tell me which type of mushroom this is? I didn't start marking my bags until after these because I'm dumb like that. I have a few more cakes I dunked with this one but they were not producing and I needed more room in that container so I bagged them.

Looks like cubes that you didn't let mature all the way. It also looks like you are having alot more success than you were. The tub recommendation had nothing to do with coir and everything to do with providing more FAE and humidity.

Cubes? [Re: JW123]

These are a few of the mushrooms that fell off the cake when I was changing the water. When you say cubes are you talking about cubensis? I thought most magic mushrooms were cubensis. My question is which strain of mushroom are these?

Yes. Cubensis. If anyone tries to tell you what variety of cubes those mushrooms are, they are blowing smoke up your ass. Edit: it is impossible to tell at that stage of development.

These are smaller than the other ones I grew so far and it looks like the veils are about to tear on the bigger ones.

That could be environmental factors as much as genetics.
