That was just for a size perspective of the tubs  I’m showing the pics of. I like to call these “ Shaq Box’s” instead of shoeboxes like the 7qt tubs.

Did you use a true casing layer or just a top layer of coir? Just wondering. I use top layers on all my tubs but save true casing layers for my pe varieties really.

Mines not a true casing layer mines just a layer of substrate ontop of my substrate/spawn mix :mushroom2:

Yes all of my trays have top layers (except for the one in the photo) I’ve been experimenting with different methods for the last few weeks. I’m definitely a believer in a top layer. (My tubs that are shown are all PE) The proof is in the pudding on those pics above.

Not trying to reinvent the wheel; just trying to figure out the perfect thickness of the top layer for my needs. I’ve got a few tubs that have a 1” super compressed casing layer that are still colonizing. Hopefully they will be easier to harvest. I’m finding that the thinner the layer the more mess it makes during harvest.

Well the proof is in the pudding your trays with the casing have a beautiful pinset. I can imagine if the casing colonizes fast without forming a nice layer connecting the lower part of the sub to the casing it will pull off easy and damage the cake.

Today is start of day 9 for the tubs still no visible pins at a quick glance but i'll have a proper look later on today and get some pictures. :mushroom2:

I dont have any visible puddles on the substrate but literally thousands of tiny beads of water this is how I need to try keep it? Also struggling to keep the temperature steady now its warming up outside temps are sitting at 21c-24c.

Hello everyone I was curious if this HEPA filter would be suitable for using in a laminar flow box design? It’s already in my possession just wondering if I can use it.

Don’t stress about the temps goin up and down. That’s what happens in nature when the sun goes down. I’d be willing to bet my tubs flucuate 10°f (I’m American)  throughout the day. I keep everything g in front of a big picture window and let it soak up the sun.  Biggest issue I run into with the swings is excessive condensation on my lid. Which can lead to some puddling if I don’t catch it in time.

I would open them up a bit and let it breathe more. It’s time for that surface condensation to start making fruits.

Well thats nice to know about the temps. All 6holes are only covered with 1 layer of micropore tape now so hopefully abit more FAE can happen as before it was 2 layers on each hole. Would it be safe to have the lids open a touch at the top or will 6holes with 1layer less of micropore tape do the trick you think?

Give it like 2 days to see what happens in regards to the fae. Making huge changes all at once is a recipe for never dialing in your tubs. It goes from to wet to to dry and back and forth. Always make one change then give it time to see what happens. Going wet dry wet dry wet dry you can easily end up with a matted surface which really hinders mushroom growth.

Thanks for that info mate ill make sure to leave them be now for a few days and if it pools I'll need more FAE if it dries too fast maybe add half a layer of tape to a few holes to have less FAE is that the route to go? I do know forsure its not too dry.

Here is a picture of the water beads its the best I can get with my phone sadly. I've not had to mist yet at all that's happened on its own I assume from a good field capacity

I’m thinking about turning this pic into one of those stick family window stickers like you see on minivans, Except I’ll make it geared towards the mush cult people

Update on the tubs I did 10 days ago. This one had the 1”pressed top layer. It’s definitely colonizing slower than my thinner looser layers. Look they do like the light! They are not bending because of a height restriction. That’s where the light is coming from.
