New to gourmets. Does this look right?
    #28669880 - 02/21/24 02:43 PM (4 months, 3 days ago)

I purchased 2 "fully colonized fruiting blocks" one pink oyster , the other golden oyster.

I'm accustomed to cubes and if I saw this in my bag I'd be concerned. Both bags are sitting in my tent acclimating after shipping. Was wondering if I could get any input from those more experienced with gourmets. Thanks in advance!

If I went in my colonization room and saw a bag sitting on the shelf looking like that I'd toss it and be pissed I fucked up.

It may fruit. Oyster are resilient. What do you have to lose at this point?

Not much to lose at all. Just making sure my observations were correct. I appreciate your response!

I contacted the seller about it through the posted contact email as well as general inquires on the website. 2 separate people contacted me assuring me the bag looked fine and I would get fruits... I was given this as a response

"That looks fine to me. Try slicing it and see what you get for a flush. Golden mycelium often looks patchy like that after being in the box and shipping, but I think you'll get a good flush from it. The contam to keep an eye out for is trichoderma (green mold) but doesn't look like your kit is contaminated."

Next day when I came home I could smell the nasty sour ass smell leaching from the filter patch, and notified them and they promptly shipped a replacement and said

"pictures can never give me what holding the block can and sometimes mycelium is damaged or retreats bit do to the packing and shipping process. Sometimes, a little bit of bacterial contamination isn't that big of a deal for fruiting blocks, but other times, such as this, it is."

I have mixed feelings here but have a replacement on the way so what do I care. I just think they bank on people being ignorant.
