    #2866858 - 07/07/04 11:27 PM (13 years, 1 month ago)

hey i am growing 3 casings of tz they are brf with verm casing, my first one has had 1 medium fush and a small one, another casing has about 35 fattys growing now its turning out the best. the third has about 2 growing and one is a huge mutant with a upside down cap. i think this one is giving me so few b.c at first my casing layer was way too think. but my question is after a flush should you cold shock casing? thanks

No. A cold shock is not necessary once the fruiting cycle has begun. In fact, cold shocking is not necessary for cubensis at all...

If cold-shocking is unnecessary, is dunking a good idea with cubensis casings between flushes? My understanding was it helps rehydrate the casing layer and can also be used a cold-shock at the same time. Is this correct? Thank you.

Dunking is a fine method for rehydrating casings, especially ones that have over-colonized casing layers. Dunking them in the refrigerator is recommended to slow the multiplication of bacteria.

yeh but you need to put something on top of your casing to weigh it down
some folks don't like to do it b/c it is an added vector for contams
