Ready for Fruiting Conditions?
    #28668454 - 02/20/24 04:14 PM (10 months, 21 days ago)

I combined my fully colonized grain spawn with substrate in a diy monotub exactly a week ago, and I was wondering if it looks ready to put into fruiting conditions (ie start giving it light and FAE). I noticed what looks like some hyphal knots, which is a good sign hopefully. Sorry the pics are bad quality, I heard you aren't supposed to take the lid off until it's ready for fruiting conditions.

Yeah, I have heard conflicting advice from different sources about whether you're supposed to let it colonize the substrate first, or fruiting conditions immediately.

I take it you'd advise switching to fruiting conditions now.

Yeah, you should just go ahead and just introduce FAE immediately. If your grain is fully colonized and clean there's nothing to worry about. Coir is not nutritious. I've let wet coir sit around for weeks
