True or False? * 1
    #28668150 - 02/20/24 01:00 PM (4 months, 3 days ago)

Snails are omnivores, venturing on to bike paths leaving the vegetative borders in wet weather to dine on their crushed brethren.

False for snails, I would say. Please do not tell me otherwise :-(

True for slugs though...

Theoretically slugs are molluscs without shells related to oysters. In testing this theory I collected a dozen and shook them up in a container with flour and spices and deep fried them. They were surprisingly good, better than the 4 dozen snails I collected yesterday.

Wow, never had those and so not see me doing that ^^ But why not.

I had snails (Escargots de Bourgogne) from the store a few times. You can buy them frozen and put it in the oven. They are already flavored whit seasoned butter. It is not my cup of tea.
From what I know, they let the snails eat sawdust (or something) to cleanse them, before they harvest them.

So are snails cannibals or not?

Are snails then also related to oysters?

I had my first snails as an adventurous English teen in  French airport, they were undercooked and I returned them uneaten only to revisit the experience 50 years later. Sometimes there's there's a nice tasty liver in them, something that recalls my childhood raised on liver pâté wrapped in bacon as a treat.

I don't know if these snails are carnivorous, I'm just curious about them. Like most animals they must have a terrific sense of smell to locate banana peels and such.

Good decision. Do not eat raw snails ^^

I never saw them doing something like this. Even if they crossed a crushed/dead snail.

Sometimes you can see a slug "standig up" to check the surroundings or something. It looks quite interessting.

Yeah, I noticed conch in Key West following each other's trails reading their state of ovulation. So when it rains perhaps the signals get mixed up for land-snails sending them all over the place.
