Haha Bigfoot’s got it covered for sure. Legit just splitting hairs here They look a smidge more organized than their counterparts at the edge. If I’m stuck between two cultures I’ll always pick the one with the cleaner leading edge. Knowing that they’re on different recipes, it matters less than the little it did. But that’s my rationale
Can’t wait to see the progress

Interesting selections. Why 1 & 3 in particular? Learn me.
1 & 3 are on agar w/o yeast, while 2 & 4 are on agar w/ yeast, so that is why 1/3 look more rhizo. I think I might have leaned toward 2/4 due to the more consistent morphology.
I mean, they're all good to send. We're just splitting hairs at this point lol. But I've always loved how densely rhizo ghost is. It almost looks tomentose but if you look closely it's just layers of rhizo.
You got that right? 1 and 3 don't have yeast? Typically yeast makes culture more rhizo. Not that it matters.
2/4 are more uniform as far as being more circular which I think just came from a better cut quality of the transfer piece. 1 is more flared around 3 o'clock because there's a ray of more aggressive mycelium pushing out. If not for that it would be round. 3 has that dip in the leading edge around 12 o'clock but I think that's because the mycelium jumped off the transfer piece from like 2-10 first so those sectors just ended up growing into each other. That's very common and is usually because when you transferred you may have accidentally left a piece of myc behind or it got rolled up or something like that. Happens pretty regularly. Uniformity is a very good indicator of cleanliness but you also have to inspect the growth pattern and myc itself.
Looks good though man I'm stoked to see what you get from this how are you planning to move forward? Full monotubs? Minimonos? Shoeboxes? I guess I'll just have to wait and find out for myself lol
I think the yeast samples probably ARE more rhizo, but because it's colonizing slower it's more thick and layered like you said.
Next steps? Well, I'm a little ahead of myself as I just spawned all the tubs I can manage about 2 weeks ago. So, ideally I need to time this so that I'm spawning in about a month and I don't think it's going to take that long to colonize grains. I think I'm going to stretch it another 5-7 days and then transfer to rye berries. I'm planning to spawn each variety to a 20qt and a 42qt mono with CV at 1:3 or 1:4 I think.

Gave the APEs a shake a couple days ago and they're bouncing back nicely. It's my first time with this strain, seems very slow compared to some other cubes I've grown. Is that a common occurrence?

Gastronomicus I think it's a Penis Envy lineage thing. It's been years since I've grown APE but I have been growing PE for the last few years and PE is definitely slower than other "normal" cube varieties, and from what I read on here this is also true for APE.

I went to prep some grains tonight and realized that I only have enough rye berries to do four jars and I was hoping to do eight, so it looks like I won't be inoculating grains until probably Friday
I think I'm going to spawn to some 16qt Sterilite totes I have sitting around, I just have to think about how I want to try modding them EZ-dial TEK-style.

Wild Florida cube T1 plates look decent enough, I'm gonna go to bottles with plate #21. SAB just got set up after I took these pics.
And I'm still debating if I'm gonna try to transfer from this other germ plate that has a bunch of bacteria as well.

Fuck yeah solid update I'm eager to see how this one pans out for you! While I do enjoy and appreciate your optimism I don't think there will be any need to dub-tub the ghosts Probably not even the TATs but it's good to be prepared just in case. Also, good call on the 1:4 I think that's the sweet spot for almost all cubes.

I need to get my ass in gear and get something done. I think I'm going to reduce my roster to 1, maybe 2 Pan varieties and just for funsies I'm going to run Ghost! This will basically be a clone hunting mission for Ghost so I'll run it back to back as many times as I can before I'm told to pack up.

Thanks! I'm jacked for these Ghost. Part of the problem with these tubs I'm going to run them in is the lids are not translucent, but I think I'll have to dub them anyway because there will only be about 3" of space between the sub and the lid.

Can you explain this "clone hunting"? You mean to go from spore to spawn to fruit, then selecting the best fruit, cloning it back on to agar and repeating?
