New York is about the same as it ever was. Probably better than it was in the 80s crime wise, but everyone these days is too young to remember that.
The problems with New York are the same problems its always had. The people there... are not nice. And I'm being diplomatic here, because I know a few people from New York who are nice, but every experience I hear from people who went there talk about how poorly they were treated, and how rude people were, and so on. Again, I'm kinda being a bit diplomatic here. It's a divisive thing, some people love it, some people hate it.
New Yorkers don't have the same sense of politeness or friendliness as other places. I have to explain this in terms of other places in the US:
Like people from the midwest are famously, notoriously insanely friendly, genuinely friendly. I've never met people like that from anywhere else, they are the best people you'll meet, so fucking genuinely friendly that it's ridiculous, like they come from some kind of weird friendly utopia.
People from California on the other hand are polite, but this is really frequently mistaken for friendliness which is where Californians get the reputation for being superficial. But it's actually that Californians act really friendly just as a form of being polite, whether they actually like you or not. Whereas in the midwest, they really genuinely like you and are genuinely friendly. Californians are just being polite though, which always throws people off if you're not used to it, because the form of politeness they use is friendliness.
New Yorkers are neither polite nor friendly. If they don't like you, you will know flat out in the very first sentence they say to you, and again every time they interact with you. They consider it some kind of virtue, and don't understand other places where people are just being polite. That's a huge generalization, but if you go to New York, you'll get the idea.
Also New York is filthy but so are most big cities in the US.

Idk what y’all are talking about in this thread and I’m not taking the time to read that, but I just came here to say I fucking hate that place.
I went there for Bassnectar for NYE a few months back, and like literally the second I stepped off the plane I started having a panic attack. Idk wtf they got going on in the waves over there but it shouldn’t exist. I felt it, and no. Take it away. I hope the whole city gets glassed soon.
Anyways.
Good evening all.

Some sort of demagogue like Trump, sure. That part makes sense. We're due for another Andrew Jackson model.
But Donald Trump himself, a rich kid from Queens who inherited his dad's asshole landlord business and then went on to be a total con man before settling into reality TV? Yeah, it fucks with my head. I thought everyone knew he was a joke long before his political bid, or Trump Towers for that matter.

He was once a master of facade disguise and manipulation.
I have stood outside and peered inside the trump tower. You literally have to take a step back to gather it in.
To an average new yorker getting kids to school and walking past the place on way to work, mixed with the news- no one had time to inspect architecture, that's surely left to the professionals (who were paid off) I get how they were duped.

I actually agree we are at a critical point right now.
I know that I only have power over myself and I’m trying to good things. But, I can’t vote for these people. The people currently in government are the worst I’ve ever seen and in IMO don’t deserve anything.

Agree. Its what it boils down to. After Trump won everyone rubbed it in my face for being a Biden supporter.
Tirelessly, I was forced to explain that I am in no way a Biden supporter, I am vehemently against Trump. Why is that so hard to understand. In lieu of actual candidates, this is what the voting game has become.
Now that everything is coming out, those people are silent and I'm too kind that I can't rub it in their faces.
What I will say, is there has been quiet transformation from unwavering MAGAs to republicans against Biden. I see this as improvement.

Well, I went to school in the south, and the first year I was in 8th grade, our state was 50 out of 50 academically. The second year I was in 8th grade, our state was 49th. (Discipline made me fail, missing too many daze). Everyone there supports trump. In places where there is a low minimum wage, they support trump. In places with less pollution laws, they support trump. In places where muthafuckas say "fuck the IRS. We don't need them watching our money " but they make 11$ per hour, they support trump, and their bosses are glad.
I'm not saying I support Biden because I do not, but he isn't a known rapist, I don't think. I think lying to support netanyahu is bullshit, and supporting what is going on over there is bullshit, thinking they can change the constitution is bullshit,
And yes, New York sucks balls, but it is a lot better since the pigs got the bloods under control because in the mid 90s they slang crack all up and down the 95, with all of the gang drama that goes along with it.

You either love it or hate, but regardless, there is no other place in the world like NYC. It is also the lifeblood of the USA, and arguably, the world economy. It's quite telling that the people who are attempting to hold it hostage are also people who are on the "vote for Trump" end of the spectrum. Total lack of foresight, insight, or vision generally, as well as a healthy dose of grandiose "I don't give a fuck about others."

Are the Dems bad? Sure, who isn't? Really, think about it. Do you know anyone who is perfect? Most of the choices we make are between evils. In this case, Dems are the lesser evil. They offer a better deal for the working class. Saying you won't participate because the players aren't perfect? They never will be. Welcome to the world. Go vote (unless you're a Republican)

Oh heck no, I'm Pennsylvanian My Philly pics probably got confused for NYC pics. I was also living in the NYC metro during 9/11 and I remember I spoke about that a couple times here, easy enough mistake to make
Don't get me wrong, NYC is a great city - they're just not the center of the universe like they think. I still get a little star struck when I fly out of there at night, it's like a giant glistening entity from the skies. There are also a ton of really nice New Yorkers, they just kinda crawl up their own asses from time to time - from my perspective as a Pennsylvanian.
