First time grower in need of help

Hey all,
This is my first time growing shrooms. I ordered a growkit from Wholecelium (yes, I have read numerous threads saying growkits suck). It's Golden Teacher.
So, I've followed their instructions, as well as read a lot of info aside from that.
I've put the growkit in it's position one week ago, after 12 hours of soaking. It sits in soft ambient sunlight during the day, 23 degrees in the room. Apparently, on the second day I realized there are almost no water drops on the sides of the bag so I gave it some misting. After that, humidity seems alright.
Already at first I noticed there was some colonization at a few places of the cake. After a week, the top layer seems to not be colonized fully yet, maybe 40% as seen from the pictures. However, all colonization is mostly at the edges. And looking at the sides of the cake, it seems very colonized. I see already primordium/hyphal knots at some places. I am adding FAE every day for a few minutes.
I've read that vermiculite does not hold moisture too well, hence the best conditions happen to be on the sides and not on the top of my cake.
I am not sure how to handle this now. Should I cover the top layer with a nylon layer as some say, to increase humidity there until primordium forms? Should I add more mist? Should I keep it as it is, and if I do, do I need to rotate the cake so that pins growing from the sides can go out more easily (if there are pins there, I still do not see pins anywhere)?
Would be thankful for any suggestions!

Can't respond to everything in this right now but vermiculite holds moisture just fine. You should poke two holes in the bag about 2 to 3 inches above the substrate to create passove fresh air exchange. Everything about pin formation is genetics and surface conditions. You want to create evaporation off the surface. Two holes on each side of the bag (about 1/8 inch big) will help bring that fresh air in constantly to create that evaporatio.
I am concerned about this spot right here which looks like it could be mold:

If it is mold you probably won't see any fruits off of this substrate.

Hey, thanks for your suggestions!
I checked the substrate. It seems I had a green object sitting there so its reflection probably looked like mould. God forbid. Here’s clearer photos:

Looks better.
Lock in those surface conditions.
