"Journey to Ixtlan" by Castaneda or "Deliverance" by James Dickey. Both are thought provoking, intense reads.

"The Seven Mysteries of Life " by Guy Murchie is one of my favorites.

--------------------
To call humans 'rational beings' does injustice to the term, 'rational.'  Humans are capable of rational thought, but it is not their essence.  Humans are animals, beasts with complex brains.  Humans, more often than not, utilize their cerebrum to rationalize what their primal instincts, their preconceived notions, and their emotional desires have presented as goals - humans are rationalizing beings.

The Milagro Beanfield War, by somebody.

The Green King, by somebody else.

But these books are just for fun, but damn were they good.

How about a really good movie, which I finally found on the internet for purchase? It's called "Paris, Texas" and if you ever get a chance to watch it, do so.

Dreamer, some of the books you listed are my favorites, also. My son had to read Enders Game in junior high school. I was bored one day with nothing to read and picked it up just out of boredom. Excellent book, and I bought the sequel when it came out. Has the third come out yet?

White Oleander was excellent, all Ann Rice books are excellent. I love intelligently written books. There's a series of books by Susan Howatch that are very, very good.

whoa crazy, after making that list i went and read enders game again.
I think its a chopped up version of the original. Only like 50 pages. My friends described the version they read as being alot longer and more involved.
haven't read enders shadow.
if you dug enders game you should check out that 7th son.

We got eaten alive by mosquitos but didn't notice til the next day. I stepped on some glass while wading in the swamp and cut my foot open, didn't bother me til the next day either....yeah it was a good time, ended the night by buying some liquor for minors and drinking nips and going to he diner and eating chicken fingers, and then I went home and went to bed.
