Essential accessories to your work station * 5
    #28662983 - 02/16/24 08:12 PM (10 months, 25 days ago)

I've finally made the step in getting an FFU to make the hobby more enjoyable and fruitful!

Exciting times. I'm now thinking about what accessories would be worth getting with my limited remaining budget. What would be your top essentials when working with an FFU or flow hood?
I have some basics from agar work in the SAB, so thinking in the realm of the racks and anything else that has been an upgrade for your work station.

Here's my one - they're rubber door stoppers that I use to rest my scalpel/tweezers and the dish I'm working on, so simple, but so handy!

β€œNature loves courage. You make the commitment and nature will respond to that commitment by removing impossible obstacles. Dream the impossible dream and the world will not grind you under, it will lift you up. This is the trick. This is what all these teachers and philosophers who really counted, who really touched the alchemical gold, this is what they understood. This is the shamanic dance in the waterfall. This is how magic is done. By hurling yourself into the abyss and discovering it's a feather bed.”

you want to use a wire rack of some sort to do your work on, working on those stops could become a disaster for you. You want to have a good solid surface to work on, I use an empty 1/2 pint jar to store my tools when not using them and a 1/2 pint jar that has alcohol in to hold my tools while I am working. I also have a propane torch for flame sterilizing my tools.
That would be a basic setup IMO.

As mentioned above. A raised platform to work on so you are in the middle of the flow. I use computer monitor stands.

Also hold onto the packaging it comes with in case you want to dampen the noise.
