N/A ID-- Found a Bunch of Mushrooms
    #2866275 - 07/07/04 08:33 PM (12 years, 6 months ago)

It's early July, and the weather has been rainy for a week. Purely out of curiosity, and without any intention to consume the mushrooms I find, I've been keeping an eye out for any fancy fungus as I walk my dog each day. Today, I found a great many mushrooms. I was wondering if any of you hunting gurus might be able to tell me what I've found.

Here is a pic:

It's neighbours were monsters, with caps upward of six inches wide, with beefy stems to boot. The tallest one stood about five inches off the ground. They are blubbery mothers, puffy like loaves of bread. The gills are fleshy and wavy. I can't tell you anything about the spores, as all of the caps have been cleared of them before I found them. They grow in huge patches in the woods, on rotting leaves, twigs. Temperatures for the past week have been between 10 and 20 degrees celcius during the day, with lows of 5 over night. Humidity has been between 60 & 100%. Lots of rain.
