I'll probably get one once they are done with the pre order period, price might come down some then too. $29 isn't bad at all but I don't pre order anything

It looks like the glowing comes from genes derived from one of the several glowing mushrooms that exist.

What I found is that since tissue culturing became more accessible and more common, I've become more patient when expensive plants catch my interest.  In another year or so (2025) this should go down in price significantly after others begin cloning it.

Look at Philodendron Spiritu Santi for example (PSS).  This plant was the subject of multiple YouTube videos about how expensive and rare it is, and one or two years later after becoming tissue-cultured it's available for less than a hundred bucks a clone.

i also think that 29 dollars is not a lot, especially since years of research and development costs have gone into it. but i wouldn't pre-order anything either, especially since the prices are bound to fall in the near future.

yes, of course, the article also states that the brazilian luminescent mushroom Neonothopanus nambi was used for this purpose

that's right, it's not as expensive a hobby as you might think. as a mushroom grower, you certainly have the necessary equipment. you would only have to order the growing medium separately

a little personal story: as someone who is interested in bioluminescence, about 20 years ago i wanted to produce luminous magic mushrooms with a friend.

his idea was to use a dna gun to introduce the gene sequence of the glowing mechanism by bombarding the fungal tissue of (for example) Psilocybe cubensis.

unfortunately, nothing came of it and the whole thing disappeared into oblivion. but when i read reports like this about what is now possible, i can't help but think of our former project.

maybe i can revive this idea...we'll see

Gene guns introduce genes at random so yall just needed to keep trying most likely. I'm assuming you were taking the tissue that glows because this is where the gene would be active. Very cool project though. How much was your gene gun? I can't even find them online and gold nanoparticles are extremely expensive

i honestly can't tell you how much the gun cost back then. my friend would have had access to various institutes where we could have done our project, but unfortunately it never happened. but it would certainly be interesting to produce a glowing magic mushroom.

you are indeed our beloved slut on this board :humpme: :ass2mouth:  :hehehe:

that would be great if you could get yourself a plant. i would love to get one, unfortunately i don't live in the States but in Europe where it will probably take some time before something like this is approved on this continent.

make a post as soon as you have the plant :pinkelephant:
