My opinion on my 12"x 24"

It's too small but workable. If fan filter units had been priced the way they are now when I built mine that would have been a better option.
My next major purchase will be a 2 * 4 ffu.

I've had one for about a year with no issues. I don't have the room for a huge FFU. It's great if you don't have much of a space to work with, but if you have the space for a larger one go for it.

Lol, if my hacked hood makes me a real scientist I'll take it.
Also, not a woodworker. Though I played a lot in my grandad's garage with saws and wood as a kid.

You mean from that particular homepage? That retailer, in England?
Also FFU? what does it mean?

That's pretty cool. It's also way prettier than anything I could make in a reasonable amount of time. You're more of a carpenter than me. Source: I've tried to build stuff, it doesn't work out.

They are great for my use, living in a small place and using 60mm glass petri dishes. The vendor also has an etsy page, which is where I ordered mine from in the first place. Check the reviews on there as well.

No worries. If I had the room for a big FFU and a lab area, I'd go that route instead.

Got it on eBay back in ‘17. I think it was less than $300 but can’t find my receipt to confirm. Prices are a bit higher these days but you can still find deals if you’re patient and persistent. I looked for 2 years before finding it. Here’s the build which is pretty basic. Mycolorado’s Massive Flow Hood Build

It does look pretty nice. I'd love the extra headspace of a 3x4.

The extra head space is ideal for running bags.

I bought a FFU that was under $400, it is 24x24 and I have found it is plenty big enough for what we do. You can do bags even with no worries about space, the only advantage to getting a $1200 24x48 is a larger work area. I assure you a 24x24 is plenty of room and half the cost. That's my 2 cents on the matter.
