Hey all looking at grabbing rye berries and saw some different type of berries and was curious if there is a difference or just different names for the same thing? If there is a difference is one better for providing vibes better nutrients
Rye berries Wheat berries Red rye berries Hard red winter wheat berries Hard red wheat berries

You can use any of those grains. Go with food grade

Any of those will work just make sure they are organic and not treated with any fungicides. When you see “winter” it just means they have evolved/engineered to be planted in Autumn and grow in cold weather. Personally I only use “rye berries”.

Considering all the mold I've seen in grain jars here, in various pics, I really don't think that fungicides is an issue... Anyway, they do prevent spores from germinating, but not live mycelium from colonising, and spores in grains is a no no anyway. I would just get the cheapest grains good enough to do the job.

I use a hard winter rye. Honestly any of those will probably work but ime wheat berries come out a little bit softer.

It doesn't need to be organic. You're paying extra for no benefit. We can and do use animal feed all the time.

These are the TEKs I use. They're all as cheap and easy as possible, just like your mom.

I would not say that not ingesting poison is of no benefit. YMMV.

Mushrooms metabolise their food, so even if they eat poison, it is safe to consume them, apart from heavy metals that is. That is assuming there is poison in the grains in the first place ofc.
