Ah that could definetly be the case I hadn't considered that. Still, I'll definetly be adding it to my list of places to check, its right next to a sweet community garden with lots of that mulch spread around.

So I don't want to be a debbie downer but I know koods mentioned in the '23 thread about parasite eggs being in Ovoids from floodplains. There was a discussion and link that showed 4-5 seconds of exposure at 80C should do the trick (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7734376/#sec4title).
I just wanted to ask if any of the more senior members could confirm this does 100% work and I had the obvious follow-up question: Does exposing the mushrooms to this heat to kill parasites/eggs have any effect on the psilocybin/psilocin? So if I wanted to be 'extra safe' and expose them for 7-8 seconds would I be effecting it's potency?

80C is normal dehydrator temp.... temp isnt as big of a deal as we once thought (ie why simmering tea worked)... moisture is #1 killer of potency..

Why not boil them into a tea?

Here’s some psilocin stained wood

It is also very likely that they might be seeing some chips colonized with chlorociboria spp. I have that in my wood chip piles. It’s rare to see it fruiting it’s kind of hard to tell.

The parking lot of my trailhead wearing camping for the eclipse is full now and people are still pouring into the park. I’m sort of grounded here until I leave. So more Hunting for me today and tomorrow. I did check some very promising looking spots. And I found a shit ton of ropey mycelium. But it just feels way too early to see any fruiting bodies even if they were here. I did find a few morels though.

Looked it up, seems like thats probably what I've been seeing. And wow what a beautiful fungus. I mean blue is my favorite color so I'm biased but seeing wood get so stained like that in the photos i saw is pretty sick.
Thats a sweet camping spot by the way Wubble.
On the mention of Ascaris, the creek I visited yesterday is a combined sewer (according to this one dude I ran into) and the intense rain we got caused some sewage to spill into the creek. Needless to say I will not be consuming anything downstream of that point just to be on the safe side. The habitat itself is rather swampy and my feet were practically sinking into the celandine which makes me nervous about snakes, so it's not my top priority regardless.

Cover them in leaf litter or straw, they will be protected and grow taller to reach for fresh air exchange Quote:

I ran out at dawn this morning to check on the patch and it looked OK. I walked out at dusk and they where looking rough and didn't grow much today, some aborted and turning that blue-green color. I think they got some cold wind burn. I took anything remotely mature and covered the rest with leaves. The grass hasn't grown in much yet to help protect the fruits. Freeze warning again tonight.
I think I found a good genetics to use for making patches with. Super early this year.

Visited a friend in MoCo and checked out a nearby creek beforehand. Spotted some young Dryads and found some lovely grassy habitat that I really believe could pay off. Its been pretty wet recently and the temp is beginning to rise, lets just say I think its time to figure out my schedule for the coming weeks

I'm a veteran Ovoid hunter but this will be my first year in this region. I'm very interested in finding someone to join me this season and would be glad to pass down the knowledge I've learned seeking these amazing gifts and what they've taught me. If you're interested I'm ready when you are. I say the 10th to the 20th they'll be poppin if there's any in my area. We might find some this week if we're lucky.
Shot you a PM Nyx! Definitely down to contribute however I can and go hunting.
