How is my tub looking? Switched out plugs for filters yesterday. Very little condensation inside the tub now, tiny droplets on mycellium.
Just wanting some input on my very first tub, thanks!

Looks okay. Congratulations on colonizing your first tub hope it fruits for you.
Not that it matters much for this particular tub, but for future you can introduce FAE (fresh air exchange) with the filtered plugs when you spawn your colonized grain to bulk and not have separate conditions for colonizing vs fruiting.
What did you inoculate your grains with? LC syringe? agar?
What substrate are you using?

Inoculated with a spore syringe (KSSS) into a jar of rye grains. Substrate is commercial stuff that seems pretty nice, I'll be making my own after the 30 pounds or so I bought runs out.

Are there droplets on the surface?
If not give it a good mist.
Looks bacterial but you'll probably get a flush.

My camera washed out the colors a bit, the parts that look a more yellowed color are just lighter coatings of mycellium.

Surprised to hear you had success with MSS directly to grain, you were very lucky! Generally MSS has bacteria and other baddies in it.
The safest way to work with MSS is to put it on an agar plate first to make sure it is free of contamination, if not transfer until clean then use the cleaned growth for inoculant. This is something you may want to consider for future work as the success rate for MSS directly to grain is a crap shoot and it’s so much time and work to have it potentially fail.
Is the substrate pasteurized or sterile? If not that’s another risk.
Of course, this is not to say that you cannot potentially have success, but I think ultimately we all want predictable, sustained success rather than luck based.
I sincerely hope this works out well for you!

I made agar plates with that syringe as well, one of those is already happily taking over a bag of millet, and should be ready for a tub in 3-4 days. It was clean and colonized the whole plate in about 14 days.
Substrate was pasteurized for mycology by the company, and packed very well. No molding or anything funky in the tub so far, was mostly wondering about the quality of the mycellium and humidity conditions.

It's not the color that gives away the bacteria. It's just the look of the mycelium and how it colonized and the differences in colonization patterns.

Fantastic regarding the MSS. Again, sounds like you’ve got an uncommonly good amount of luck bc usually spores are not clean. For future you may consider getting isolates via LC as opposed to spores if you’re wanting to go directly to large monotub grows for consistent fruits. spores, in their nature, have a full range of genetics and can vary greatly in potency, speed of growth etc. like you could do everything right and end up with a tub full of low potency fruits which would be a real bummer. From my understanding, in advanced cultivation, spores are used to find and isolate specific traits. But I do understand that they’re more readily available.
For the substrate, that’s cool and imho pre-packed, field capacity, ready to use sub is a wonderful way to start out this hobby.

A photo of your colonized grain bags (if you have photos) for this tub prior to spawning to bulk, may offer some insight for elasticaltiger.

That is about as bacterial as it gets... notice how the uneven colonization there is reflected in the tub?

Oh goodness. That doesn’t look great. The wet spots on the grain, the discoloration and the patchiness of growth is all indicative of bacteria.
Of course this doesn’t mean it won’t fruit before the inevitable mold takedown. Frankly, I’m surprised it’s even colonizing your substrate and hasn’t stalled.
Fingers crossed it gives you some fruits before it goes belly up.
You said you put some to agar, may we see it? Bacteria on plates tends to look like water that doesn’t move.
