sorry if someone's asked this before, but what would cause fluffy mycelium to grow up around the base of the stipes on a cake or a casing? i am thinking it must be something to do with humidity.. still haven't quite figured out a way to get more humidity than I have, although I don't even know what the humidity is because I don't have a hygrometer.

btw, it's not cobweb mold, I know what that looks like (unfortunately from experience).. it's just overlay-ish mycelium.
