That is a nice looking set of casings. They are Pan Trops correct. Also, what did you use to spawn them with and what ratio to the straw? It looks like it spread very fast, cant wait to see the fruiting results!

a casing layer of coir/cricket guano/worm castings has been applied, just over 1/4th inch deep 2 1/2 days ago and this is the progress. (the coir had some cobweb mold growing in the bag that I had opened a few weeks ago so instead of pasturising it, it was p.c.'d 30 min@15psi

Alder-beautiful pix! That mycelium looks healthy and vigorous. My only concern is that you're definitely going to get fat overlay if you're using coir/cricket guano, etc as a casing layer because it has so many available nutrients. You won't get pinning from that. Instead, let it overlay fully and then case it with a very thin layer of neutralized peat(1/2 to 1/4 cm casing is all you need). To get your guano casing layer to fully colonize, cover the trays with saran wrap and poke holes in it to allow air exchange. Consider your guano/worm casting casing layer as additional nutrients. Oh I can't wait to see that shit fruit!
With Pans, the mycelium usually runs through the casing all the way to the surface, and then recedes. After that happens, pinning occurs very rapidly. The casing becomes colonzied around the stem of the fruit bodies. If this confuses you, ignore the last sentence.

Thank you for the advice. I have given it a partial spray and it is now covered (saran) & at 80 degrees. I'll pick up some peat and already have crushed oyster shells. Would I be better off casing with just regular coir or the peat? Peace..ALDER

afoaf took the old casing layer(coir/guano) off of the dung to prevent overlay and recased w' 50/50+. The old coir/guano casing measured out to be just under one pint, and has been used to innoculate a 14 gallon rough-tote(rubermaid) 3" full of 60% horse dung, 40% chopped wheat straw(all pasturised@ 175/45 min). It has been 48 hrs and is showing agressive re-establishment!!!! I know that all this F'n around has cost afoaf a shitload of valuable time but I believe that it will pay off because the bread pans have just shown their first pins. Most of them are near the edges of the pans and my friend is so thrilled!!! when they get a bit bigger she will post growth stage picks. Look for them in the following few days.
If this dung tek proves to work with so little spawn without any contams then old dung substrates may prove to be a valuable asset for innoculating of new bulk dung continually until senecense occurs. It would be nice to get a potent strain such as pan trops/cyans and not have to go back to the syringe or agar for a good 6 months+ untill the strain loses its vigor!! ALDER_057

grain can do this quite easily...
plus it adds some nutrients to mix-esp w/ straw
