Trich or just bruising?
    #28655306 - 02/11/24 10:58 AM (10 months, 30 days ago)

So I have some TTBVI on grain that’s just about ready to go in some substrate and I’m pretty sure this is just some bruising but just wanted to make sure this isn’t trich before I open the bag.

Do you see any green in the blank uncolonized area towards the bottom?

Nothing in that dark spot at all. It doesn't look trichish too me, just wanted a second set of eyes on it to confirm.

Any other reason for this, apart from it resembling mold instead of mycelium? That's the reason I personally don't trust it, but is based only on instinct, not in evidence, so I am really not sure if I am right or wrong. I do know that I grew lots of mold in petri dishes, and  the colour was often more on the grey side, though not always, to be frank.

That myc has clearly stopped growing due to some contaminant.  I'd wager bacteria but it could also be mold.

Have you done a break and shake? if that is trich it will take over rather quickly after that. I would try that before you decide to toss or send to bulk.
