I would recommend using finch seed if its available before wild bird food, just because the growth was whispy and weak, even with perfect moisture content. It will work but I dont prefer it, thats all. Finch seed first! Overall its not terrible though, as you can see it fruited ok!

Hey Russdog,
Looks good... Isn't the difference between 1st and 2nd flush amazing? To me all strains look identical in 1st flush... But 2nd flush and so on really brings out the characteristics of the strain.

True...Holy, the second flush is always what I like. These thai fruit small their first flush then they have huge shrooms 7 inch tall with 2.5 inch caps.
Its amazing to see the difference.

The blue is the reaction of psilocybin when it comes in contact with air, or when fruits are handled and/or damaged. Psilocybin is the "magic" in the shrooms I guess you could say.

I crumbled 1 pint jar of colonized birdseed over a layer of moist vermiculite then topped itwith 1/2 inch of plain 50/50 mix.
I had trichodermia set in many times, then sprinkled it with baking soda and Wah-Lah, no more contams (for now) it works great.

hubertd8, Have you ever had a horrendous trip that flashed your life before your eyes and you spent a long time repairing that, swearing you'd never do it again. Only to trip again and find yourself back in that same rut and put the pieces of your life back together? No? Oh well, its not important. I have to discipline myself not to eat these things anymore, I get more enjoyment out of growing them and showing you guys the pictures than I do anything else.
McMan, about your happiness saying, how is that supposed to help anyone? Nice thought, but when your really destroyed "upstairs", that stuff never helps, not for me at least.

One time I ate 5 grams or cubs.....I thought I was going to die. Not like I was ready to vomit. I just flipped out so I messured my temperature at 104. I felt like the end was near.
I will never be the same after that day:( It took me like a month to get the balls to try them again.:)

Interesting Russdog,
I have had similar experiences, but those trips never affected me like the ones that showed me what my life was really like, or at least thats how I saw it on shrooms... My perspective is so changed it sometimes feel like I lost my soul. This is how it is for me, different for everyone.

damn! it suprises me to see posts like your's holydiver...
I wouldn't think that if you had that reaction to shroomin that you wouldn't bother growing...
I think if I felt that way I wouldn't want to have anything to do with the things.
Me on the other hand ....I feel nothing but love......My favorite thing to do is just get on the floor and roll around playing with my pets....they seem like big giant stuffed animals to me and I love them even more then before I tripped when I finally come down. That's the only kind of thing I ever experience...Well sex is actually my FAVORITE thing to do while trippin...but like you said different for everyone.
Nice Pic !!!! I can't wait til my fun babies get to that point.....what do you do with them if you don't use them anymore though?

I know exactly what you're talking about. My last trip, although it didn't immediately affect me, was the source of a previously latent phobia of going schizophrenic. Thanks to acid (not mushrooms), I've had panic attacks and anxiety for quite some time now. I became so afraid of going schizophrenic that I caused myself anxiety attacks, it's kind of like a catch-22. My fear of BEING crazy actually made me ACT crazy. But growing mushrooms has been very therapeutic and although I'm still "repairing" myself, it took a good two years to get back to a place where I felt "normal". I've never once eaten a single mushroom that's come out of my projects and never will. There comes a point in tripping where you've learned all you can, and any more becomes excessive.

Kast and McMan, thanks for the great posts. Definitely food for thought McMan, but like Kast said, I don't believe there are any answers out there, you just have to take the experience for what it is.
Karen, to anwswer your question about what I do with the shrooms: Nothing, give them away to people that might want them, not many people I know into the shroom experience though.
Maybe I will start the Free Shroom Ring, No questions asked, just give me an address and Wah-Lah! Just kidding, I know thats illegal...hehe

Excellent post, McMan. It's very inspiring. Dealing with fear is certainly the hardest aspect of being human, and for that reason, I do not feel I am strong enough yet to partake in the battle. Maybe one day I will. Maybe the cue will come in a dream or maybe I'll just know. We will see.

Three weeks ago today I did 6 g (which was nothing too special for me). Anyway I had 16 jars that were just cakes and decided to case 2 jars. I'd been doing the shrooms from cakes for a few weeks, and having real good times. Then I did the cased ones on that evening. Big mistake. I realized it was going to be bad after 45 min. Terrified of everything, thought I was dying then thought I WAS dead,then thought I was in Hell. It was terrible. But I tried them again the next night( not the cased ones) and everything was cool. No probs since. Here's a pic of the Demon casing.

Whether its shrooms, LSD, peyote, whatever, 99% of "bad" trips are going to come when you're not in the correct frame of mind. The hallucinogen doesn't "give" you a good or bad trip, it only enhances or magnifies the mood you're really in. You get out of it what you bring with you, so if you go in expecting a bad trip you'll probably get one.
The government studies of LSD in the 60's showed that they could "steer" the trip by making the test subject feel either comfortable, anxious, depressed, or happy just before the trip. People who were depressed or scared always had a nasty trip. Though these tests were aimed at the potential use of LSD as a "truth" drug, they quickly found that anyone under the stress of being interrogated would just plain freak out and be completely incapable of any communication.
To test the opposite end of this with covert "dosing" as spys might do, they [CIA] enlisted drug addicted hookers to slip it to their unsuspecting johns in exchange for heroine or coke. They even set up two way mirrors in the hotel rooms to tape the "experiments". Here they found mixed reactions, if the john seemed very relaxed and laid back during the encounter he would usually have a great time. If it was a nervous husband sneaking some on the side he very may have a bad trip.

Yes Russdog, B+ does seem to gather in strange bundles when cased, its pretty neat. This time harvesting destroyed the casing layer, they didn't want to be picked and would bring up a ton of casing with them, using even twisting still did this. Oh well, nothing a fresh layer of 50/50 wont cure! A few days and 2nd flush will come through, I'll post pics!

I figured out that is you are a very negitive person then you will have some bad trips.
