Can anybody help indentify these cacti?
    #2861807 - 07/06/04 03:06 PM (19 years, 9 months ago)

I just picked these up at the supermarket. I am still doing searches on erowid and am having problems knowing for sure if what I have are either trichocereus macrogonus or trichocereus peruvianus or neither for that matter. Any suggestions or identification tips appreceated. Thanks

Sorry for the crapy pictures, my good camera is in the shop.

The one on the right is definately not a t peruvianus. The one on the left is probably not either, sorry. Perus are very hard to tell from common types because there are lots and lots of common types that look similar. Pedros are a little easier to tell apart but blue myrtles are similar enough that you have to look very closely.

John, I never saw a blue myrtle with spines that long. What makes you think the other isn't a trich? It might not be but I don't see anything to tell me that.

When I get my camera back in 5 day's I will take better pictures. The one without the yellow fake flower has a slight blueish tint. The spines are white with black tips. It has 6 rib's ( if you can't tell from the picture)
