9 days but no germination visible?
    #28646751 - 02/04/24 07:17 PM (3 months, 10 days ago)

Hello,

So i inoculated 2 1lb rye spawn bags with 5ccs each of Tidal Wave spores... it's been about 9 days since inoculation but i see no visible signs of germination.

i've been trying to leave the bag alone as much as possible. the only thing i can see is that there is condensation on the inside of the bag.

I injected into the middle of the bag so maybe they just haven't made their way out of the middle yet?

did i do anything wrong? how long should an inoculation like this take given the amount of substrate and cc's given.

apartment is at mid 70's for temp.

thanks for any help!

If you injected into the middle its going to take up to 2 weeks to see it make its way to the bag. Maybe 18 days.

Edit: you should check the bottom of the bag as the solution tends to flow to the bottom creating a sort of "pillar" of growth.

Actually have a question, if it took 10 days to see germination for a 1lb bag, how long do you recon it would take for a 100% colonization?

The germination time and colonization time are not really correlated. But for a 1lb bag with a shake at 50-70% I would expect it to take 15- 28 days depending on temps and mycelium aggressiveness.

0/10 would not recommend this TEK. (Or did you use the TEK tag arbitrarily?)

If you've got a lot of practice at it you may see the initial threads as early as 2 to 3 days.

3 days in the above pic.

Full colonization on a quart mason jar from spores with a break and shake at 30 to 50% I would expect it to be fully colonized around 16 to 23 days.
