DME is what you want. People here often say LME meaning Light Malt Extract. Your use of LME to denote liquid malt extract is more correctly how the abbreviation is used in brewing circles. Just get the lightest, or lowest Lovibond dry malt extract you can find.
Okay, I tried searching before asking, but no luck so far. How low must lovibond be to be useful for us? Thanks in advance
Any Lovibond will work to grow mycelium. We prefer low Lovibond, I like 2 or 3, because it will make agar that is close to transparent. The higher the Lovibond, or darker the extract, the darker the agar. It will still grow mycelium just fine, but it may be harder to see what else is growing on it.

You absolutely can dry out BRF cakes using a heat mat or incubator. Best is to heat the room the cakes are in. Localized heat will cause evaporation at best, and speed up any contamination, if present, at worst.

I think everyone actually uses DME but we all just call it LME. You definitely want lovibond 2 not lovibond 4 though. Lighter is better

The brewer just informed me their DME is lovibond 13. There goes my "cheap" option

So I’ve got like triple the amount of tubs in my grow space as usual and the substrate wont stop sweating.
Is this just going to be as issue with that many tubs? Any way to mitigate all the water pooling up around the edges? Having warm pools of water has been causing a lot of bacterial jelly to form, and in some cases it’s been bad enough to stunt growth.
Should I just not stack tubs? Grow less?

Yes, they can dry. I discovered this now, on my first grow. My theory is that it would be best to let the cakes in the jars till primordia/pins are formed, so as to preserve the water content, and not having a cake sitting in a FC doing nothing, and just loosing moisture. I may be totally wrong of course, but it seems logical tomme, and I will definitely try it. Some of my cakes never fruited, and I suspect two culprits, one is what I already mentioned, and the second is the... opposite, too much water content when making the cakes, which leads to contamination/stalling. Keep in mind that this is just a theory of a noob, based on observations alone, in my first grow, so I could be totally off.

Consider stacking with an air gap, possibly criss crossing the tubs rather.

Perfect excuse to get a good dehumidifier.

QQ in relation to this post...
I did a second "break and shake" on these Mazatapec inoculated rye berries 5 days ago when they were between 75-90% colonized.
This was just before I did it on 1/31

This is today

They look clean to me, no signs of adversity (moisture, metabolites, etc), but are they fully colonized and ready to spawn?

I got one and I hardly ever used it. After I started growing from prints I just started using pre sterilized swabs. They come in two packs and its like 10$ for 200.
The loop is useful if you're using syringes and streaking. But even then swabs work OK for that.

I like nichrome loops more than swabs or a scalpel. But suggest you try them all to learn your own preference.

Personally. I got a sterilizer and the loop fits all the way down to the back of it. So I can get it red hot and it comes out and cools almost instantly. That’s what I really like about it.
I haven’t really had very much opportunity to use it though. I’ve been doing a2a since I got it going.

If you mean the aborts they will most likely be overcome by mycelium if you don’t pick them whith the flush. I’d pick them if you plan on dunking for rehydration.

Proper nichrome loops are so good though. It's like a scalpel vs an x-acto. Yeah, they are pretty much the same thing and yeah they both get the job done but the scalpel and the nichrome loop are just so much nicer to use.
