lighting cycle

i've read about 12/12 cycles being optimum and i've read also read that 12/12 is overkill. my light cycle is 1.5 hours in the morning, 1 hour in late afternoon and 1.5 hours around midnight. is this adequate light or not enough? when the terrarium isn't being lit up by the floro light there is no other ambient light that gets to it (in a closed closet). what are you're light cycles? do you think that mine may cause a delay in pinning/growth? also, should the light be continuous on and continuous off or scattered like my light cycle?

If you are only doing it for a few hours, I would do it mid afternoon, let it run for around 4 or 5 hours, that way it heats up the closet a little bit. This method gives you killer growth overnight when there is a temperature drop. Just don't let it get over 84F. I've noticed this is the line from good to very bad. Most people will say the heat is not a good idea, but I've working from this for a long time, and my mushrooms turn amazingly blue now the more and more i perfect this method. Growth speed will be determined how wet it is, humidity, substrate, and casing material (if you are casing it). If you experiment with this, I find it very helpful for a good dunk over night too.
