Any experience with printing Trinity? I was forcefully removed from the mycology field for about 8 years and I'm diving right back in. I ended up with Trinity after being scammed by 2 other "vendors" and finally found a good LC from a shop out here..
They didn't know anything at all about mycology period and I have no experience with Trinity.
Fruiting is taking much longer than most other strains I've dealt with and it appears from what I read that they are difficult to print.
Sorry this isn't short. Any knowledge it first hand experience with this specific strain would be much appreciated.

QQ - why does everyone else's millet look plump and soft, whilst mine looks like brown shotgun pellets??  I've tried no-prep, simmer and soak, thorough wash and 24 hour soak, but it's always the same :-(

I've only got inoculated jars right now, so it's not particularly clear, but the pic gives an idea of the grain size and colour.

Have you tried Reverse Fooman's WBS Tek? I use it and my millet is still normal color when done. I changed it up a bit and fill a small bucket with the WBS and really wash it well with a little bit of dish soap. Then I strain it and rinse it off really well. You would be surprised how much dirt comes off with using soap, at least with the brand I use. I increase my cooking time to 100 minutes and pressure to 18-19psi. I don't know why but I seem to have better success with that time and pressure. Also don't fill the jars more then 2/3 full before PC'ing them as the grain does still swell a bit.

Thanks for  the reply Bigworm, I'll try it on my next run.  (Hopefully soon - all my jars are colonising right now and I've a dozen plates that'll need to go in the fridge to slow them down).  I only filled that one to about 2 fifths, but yes, a lot are too full to easily shake.

Is there a type or brand of paint that is preferred for painting a plywood flow hood?

Well like all raw woodworking. You sand it baby smooth, stain it the color you want with stain to bring out the wood grain, then polyurethane it when its dry for that sealed gloss look.

If ur just talking painting it a color then any old primer and satan high gloss paint will do.

Anything that is difficult to pull prints from just use swabs.

You can use just about anything you want. You’re just trying to seal the wood surface so it’s not a breeding ground for bacteria. The best for durability is varithane. The best for chemical resistance is fiberglass layup epoxy, like used for boats. The cheapest is whatever cheap paint you can find.

Hi all! I’ve got a few quick agar Qs from my first time working with it. The strain is machine elf, all the plates are T1. (I think I should be able to take the T2s to grain.) Here is the best plate of mine. I am planning to take many transfers from pretty much all around it. If that seems wrong to you, let me know!

Here are some other plates of mine, with less strong growth and some wispy stuff that slightly concerns me. Are you put off by the wispiness? Does it look like mycelium to you?

Finally, I was just wondering if y’all had any other comments/suggestion. I have been surprised to see the vertical growth some of my plates have done! I didn’t realize that would happen. Thank you!

Made my first agar plates they look great only they all have condensation in them. I read afterwards that I have poured them while too hot.

Anyway, how do I clear the condensation? Upside down and leave in warm area? Or?

Edit: I think I've worked it out. Putting upside down on a heated radiator wrapped in a towel. The waters going more fluid not condensed. So hopefully storing upright will lead it to be re absorbed?

Edit edit: those clear from heat are just condensing again... 🀷

There is some dry residue on their as I used tap water to make them (mineral residue?) but hoping that means nothing...

I've read that if you stack your plates after pouring, only the topmost plate will have condensation.

I would let it grow further, see if you get some rhizoidal structures coming out of it, to make sure it actually is myc. Currently it's looking very homogeneous and aerial. Will also make transfers easier/more predictable.

In a way I'd say the second one is more promising as it's showing more structure than the first, at least from top view, not sure how aerial it is.

Most of the plates I have going are pretty aerial. Is that necessarily a sign of non-mycelial growth? Or it just could be. I’ll let it keep growing, then, unless others have differently to say! Thank you!

Its likely just your agar recipe like rum mentioned in reply to the other thread u posted of the same question.

I dont see anything wrong with that first plate particularly, id send it

Hard to say from those pics. But if they remain mostly aerial and do not build up 2d structures on your agar (veins), it might not be mycelium. But I'd listen to others' opinions as well

Yes it’s certainly mycelium. Bacteria and yeast look very different. On my plates, high nutrients contribute to thicker growth upward. That first plate is very pretty! You can transfer from anywhere or everywhere on the edge of growth.
