Yeah, harvesting can certainly be painful, Iβll give it a shot though as I inoculated a bag, was going to break it up but now Iβll just do a lager tub and see what happens.

Hey Baba,
I made a classic mistake. I forgot to tape up the holes. Went to bulk on Jan 23, Found it on day 6 when I cased it and pins today - 5days.

My first Bisporus prints. Very happy with my progress.
Thanks Baba Yaga for your effort with this thread and support over the last year. Between this thread and Stonesun's "As easy as cubes" thread I have been able to successfully grow Pans without extra kit.

I wouldn't call it a mistake, a lot of FAE from the start works great ime with or without casing also. It all can produce good flushes regardless.
Looking good in there. What variety is this?
Happy to see this working out so well for you now

Sorry if I missed it but what is the sub composition?

Maybe it's fighting something? Had a couple of bisp tubs from the same LC that would not do much other than producing a hand full of smaller fruits and then turn green after 2 or 3 weeks.

It is straw/manure/coir/verm, can't say exact parts but I listed it in order of which I used higher to lowest.
@baba, it could be. The sub still looks healthy after being cased for more than a month. Maybe I'll peel most the mp tape off for now and see where it puts it. Thanks man.

Floret said: The smaller form factor of shoeboxes cleans up easier. If you're growing a lot then it would make sense to do full size monos. Modified tubs and unmodified shoeboxes have sufficient FAE. You can treat them almost like cubes, except for the pasteurized sub and a light mist twice a day.

Those look great Floret, beautiful shoeboxes there. I love the sb too, just wanted to try a full size tub once....I really like when im able to get them out of the box without destroying them and let them rest in the liner on top of the sb lid. Seems like there's a better airflow around them.

What up Pan tub crew?!!!
Finally got my first Pans/clones. Had to go the JCM route as my environment was just too cold, so I didn't post that in here. BUT, I fully intend to go tub'n with these clone cultures when ready and my ambient temps will be much more conducive to tubs.
One observation from my first successful grow (luck more than anything) was with casing. I just threw fine-grade verm on top, very lightly. Could still see LMP/Coir mix underneath some spots. I just didn't have anything else at the time, but they fruited - likely would have w/out the verm I'm guessing?
Going to taste test today, VERY lightly. Im thinking 1g fresh. I've never had anything other than cubes, so treading very lightly & respectfully with these samples.
Anyway - excited to get back over to this thread in a month or two with/ something to contribute. Till then, see everyone on the big Pan thread!

Hey Baba, thanks for all the work.
How important is the thin top layer at spawn? I forgot to add that to most of my pans till I double checked. Ended up considering it an experiment and added it to half of them to see what would happen. That being said if this experiment is unproductive iye should I just add it to the rest? Theyβre all growing quite happily so far.

You should always at the very least cover your exposed grains in my experience. No point in risking contamination for the sake of literally 5 seconds work when you have all the materials at your fingertips.

What is your exposed grain exposed to that it wasn't exposed to during the spawning?

Unclean air for roughly 10 days while it colonises. As apposed to about 2 minutes while you spawn it.

I'm not seeing it. This is a superstitious part of cultivation to me.
