Climate Change is Scary Y'all 4

First there was a freak ice-snow storm in January now its the first of Feburary and its Spring weather! I love Spring but this way too early!

Lil Dicky made this video 4 years ago saying that "Scientists say we have 12 years to turn things around". So we got 8 years left to change the World. We are finally seeing the impacts of Global Climate Change now. I'm scared. Are you scared? What is your back-up plan if Earth continues to heat up and have freak extreme weather?

I live in a part of the world that will get hit pretty late with the extreme changes. But I'm going to prepp, when I get the means for it. Nothing extreme, don't want to spoil my life thinking about the end. There's also a chance that we will get through this, but to be honest I don't think so. That's why I'm not getting any children because they will probably see the true beggining of the end.

Don't be scared
Very many things will hit in the near future, very rapidly. There is no telling at this point whether we an still turn it around.
Vegetable oil and limestone an be combined to form calcium stearate which can be added to jet fuel. What this will do is spread chalk dust in the stratosphere where it lingers for years. Chalk is very white, so it will reflect sunlight back to space like it was a polar ice cap.
yes, using chemtrails to limit the effects of global warming, so that the ice will grow again.
A jet fuel additive. They tank it, they fly the flight they would fly anyway and in doing so, they lower global warming.

Yeah, it’s absolutely gorgeous outside which is bothering me. I’m almost positive positive there’s gonna be a couple flash freezes soon. Otherwise I could go and plant my bush outside right now.

Sweetie we are not entering spring yet. February has just started and February is always the worst month. This is just the calm before the next ice or whatever kind of storm is coming in the next week or two. Last year was kind of like this too. One week of spring time and then the next week winter followed by a couple weeks of spring and then winter again.

That sounds far too close to the mistake that was made in the matrix for anyone to endorse. But I do like the idea. Unfortunately, that is something we need to contemplate at this point.
I always thought this was a fun plan. We would have 1 billion prisms released in orbit around our planet. The sun would be getting refracted off of them and maybe 40% less of the sunlight would be hitting our planet. Which would provide time to cool. If it did work well. It would just be a permanent fixture around our planet. A constant ring of rainbow prisms. If our planet did cool down enough. It would not be hard to clean up. They’re just pieces of crystal with some particles floating in them. We could just have them enter the atmosphere and burn up.
That’s something I always thought would be a really cool solution. But it would cost way too much money and they would have to be constantly replaced.

We unconsciously (for the most part) geoengineered ourselves into this shithole situation. Now we're going to geoengineer some more, deliberately, and that's all going to make it better.
Let's face it; the climate is fucked, the mass extinction has started and the tipping point is very clearly behind us already. It would have become fucked anyway, but we accelerated it by a couple dozen million years. At this point, there's very little we can do except damage control.
The whole "we should try and turn this ship" attitude is counterproductive; it wastes time and precious resources that we need to make this changing planet as habitable as possible for future generations. Changing the climate back or somehow halting its change is not a feasible scenario. Anyone with a modicum of insight into system dynamics recognizes this. However, it's still taboo to acknowledge it, even in academic circles. It's a ridiculous situation.

You always come off as so hopeless. Why can’t we try to turn the boat around? Even if it is too late. I doubt that giving up is a better alternative. How would we be better using these resources than trying to prevent things from getting worse much faster?

I'm not hopeless and I'm not saying we should give up. I'm saying we should get our priorities sorted.
Look at the massive investment in time, resources and political chicaning trying to turn the ship around. We could spend a lot of that effort on clean water tech, relocation of populations to more suitable/habitable places, water management, etc. etc. etc. Instead, we're tiling roofs with solar panels, made in China, manufactured with coal-derived power. It's ass-backwards. Windmills aren't going to stop the low-lying regions where the majority of the human population lives from flooding.
Sustainability is a great thing and we should strive for it. But what we're doing presently is standing in the basement deliberating about how to improve the foundation of the home, while the fucking roof is on fire. We should be hauling the kids out of the upstairs bedroom instead.

Oh, I completely agree we’re doing a shit job. We’re on the same page then. It just sounds like you agree with me that we’re not doing nearly enough and not nearly fast enough.
Relocating populations has never worked well. There’s always some dickhead who refuses to leave his house that he was raised in. Times a million.

Sort of; my point is mainly that to the extent we're doing things, we're doing the wrong things.
Priorities at this point should be water + food. Both are massive problems already, with the food supply being under pressure and the water situation being a fuckup of too much in one place and by far not enough in another (the latter is obviously the major issue).
Relocation is a last resort and should ideally be prevented; nobody likes to up and leave just like that. But the more we ignore the food & water situation, the more necessary this last resort will become. We may still have time to do this a bit more gradually instead of having to do Katrina-like evacuations across the globe.

I'm scared constantly about stuff really important in my life. Health, my families health, being alone, lots of stuff. So the other things in the world I have become numb to.
Climate change is scary but I can't change it so I can't spend any time actually worrying about it not because I don't think it's scary and real but because I don't have any more room emotionally to be scared of what's going on in the world.

I think in the end this is true for many people, and perhaps the majority of mankind. And heck, I can't blame them/us. Part of the tragedy of course is that this contributes to the status quo. Not blaming you for anything, mind you. Some things just are the way they are, regardless of whatever normative assessment one might make of them.
