New grower

Hello! I’m new to Shroomery, I just recently started getting into growing P. Cubensis mushrooms.
I decided to go with pacific substrates ‘Ready Set Grow’ all in one mushroom grow bag, and I inoculated one with a B+ spore syringe, how long should I expect it to take for the mycelium to fully colonize?
I also just ordered a GT liquid culture syringe, I would like to know if the substrate is good for the strain, also how long I should expect it to take for that to fully colonize?
I have so many questions, and google gives me so little answers.

Edit out vendor names please.
Get used to the board rules before posting.
Different companies don't call the tune,
but the fact you gonna use syringes on grains does.
Have a read here and read it all

Ok so like the person prior said stop talking about vendors and what you did with their shit ok? Cool.

Next you need to know that spores syringes aren't sterile. Mushrooms are grown in open air and air contains mold and bacterial spores that attach to micro dust particles. You inject that into a bag of nutrient rich material and guess what? It's like a 50/50 chance of success or less. Sorry.

Also I recommend not buying liquid culture through the mail guess what it's not legal no matter what state you may or may not live in.

If you really wanna learn an easy way to begin a mushroom growing adventure with a spore syringe check out my links on making BRF cakes, and a water tub fruiting chamber, and a SAB to work inside of. This hobby is amazing, so don't take the easy route. Do things yourself and it'll be worth it eventually. Also I highly recommend my links on making and working with agar it truly is the REAL secret to success.

Hello, i am also a new grower, so take what i say not as advice but more like a description of what happened to me.

If you inject spores directly on grains, expect a 90% chance of contamination and eventually failure.
- i tried to put semilanceata and golden teacher spores directly on grains as a test and those jars failed with black mold contamination.

As the persons above said :
spores are contaminated all the time.

I know we are all unpatient and want the fruits as fast as possible, especially on the first grows, but i think, taking your time and growing some clean cultures on an agar petri dish will save you lots of headaches down the road.

As for timings :
- 2 weeks to germinate on agar and have ~4 cm diameter circle colonized. Now i take a samples and transfer on new dishes because :
  - i have contaminants
  - not all micellium is growing fine, some is very slow
~ 2 weeks to expand transfer on agar
~ 1 week after i transfer micellium from agar to grains to start seeing some growth.
~ 3 weeks and 2 shakes to have a 500ml jar colonized
~ 2 weeks after i spawn the grains into a box
~ 1 week to see hyphal knots/ pins
~ 1 week to harvest ( more like 10 days )

total time : ~ 12 weeks from spores to harvest
strain : p.cubensis : golden teacher

These are the timings on my first growth

I see, so all these websites that say their spore syringes are 99.9% sterile or something is a lie?  that’s rather disappointing. I also had no idea shipping liquid cultures is illegal. It seemed to be the same as spore syringes “for microscopy only not sold for growth” or something like that. Personally I’m not too worried about it given the kinda stuff I used to ship (allegedly).

I was told to keep my grow bags for a couple weeks before inoculating to make sure they’re not contaminated themselves. If they grow mold after inoculation to get ahold of the company I got the syringe from so they may replace it. I have friends that use all in one bags, they tell me they get some good flushes like 9 times out of 10, however I’m worried now😂

The only way a spore syringe would be sterile is if the mushrooms were grown in a hermetically sealed clean room under strict laboratory conditions when it's a lot more likely they came from someone who's growing them in tubs in their house.

Liquid culture has mycelium in it, mycelium contains psilocybin, psilocybin is illegal to possess in all states and especially ship over state lines. Spores are legal for microscopy intentions because they don't contain psilocybin.

Using all on one bags is one thing, maybe, but shooting spores into all in one bags is a whole different animal.

I see. I did not know that, thank you. I just went with the liquid culture because it’s less steps. Lol

One thing you will quickly learn about this hobby is just how easy it is to use bad or outdated info. i recommend learning how to use the search function for the forum and just learning all the relevant up to date stuff and if you have any questions looking them up across the multiple posts that each topic is bound to have will eventually reward you with the knowledge you seek. i promise if you cannot find the answer to your question you probably havent looked hard enough on here, good luck with your grow and welcome to this amazing place

Vendors do easy business with that nowadays.
Sell some shitty grains, some dirty spores,
and surely don´t give answers on issues with cultivation,
as it´s not meant for it.

I remember a time ago,
folks (including me) inoculated grains directly with a syringe.
I bet it´s cause the printing quality was way better than nowadays.
Some vendors run a centrifuge for making clean syringes,
but i believe that isn´t fool proof.

Every liquid should be tested on agar first.
Contams easily show up, you transfer viable mycelium to a new plate,
and repeat until you have a clean culture.

An exception is PfTek,
as it´s meant to be inoculated with a syringe.
The substrate can handle some contams to a degree.
