Flow Hood Usage

Hey gang,
So i know the theory behind laminar flow and all that. I have access to a lab with a large expensive flow hood for mycology and agar work that i've been using.
I'm wondering if anyone has best-practice tips or tricks when using large, industrial scale laminar flow foods? Also, it has one of those large glass windows in the front that is adjustable. Is it best to keep that window wide to allow for better flow, or keep the window down close to the bottom while fitting your hands in? Specifically a question for when doing agar work and in terms of contamination. Apparently some of my trays ended up with mold. Thanks!

I was lucky enough to get some lab practice training and the only thing that stood out for me that isn’t mentioned anywhere that I know of in the shroomery was to start your flow hood 20 mins before you plan to use it so the air currents in the room adjust to its running and stabilise, minimising general turbulence in the room, not sure how relevant it is to most of us but they were pretty vigilant about it in the lab.
