Cross-posting from LAGM thread for more feedback.
Do you agree with my sector sections (good in red, bad in blue) and is it too soon to do another round of isolation? The TAT plates are T1, and the Ghost plates are T2.

Really? Then perhaps a slightly different rule than for germ plates eh? Off of the germ plate (inoculated from swab 1/9), my original T1 was not great and after I waited another 6 days, I got these much better looking T1s.
The two T1s above are 6 days old taken 1/24, here is the original T1 taken on 1/18

I think your selection choices are good only I would’t count out the left selection on tat pic 1. It may not be as crazy rizo as the right but it looks good and consistent/uniform.

Agreed. I try to take as many transfers as I'm willing to juggle. I may take 5-10 from each plate and see what develops. The clean-but-less-than-stellar will go to grain while I continue working the better cultures.

Whatever the monster I've spawned is, it continues to thrive.

I'm hopeful that, aside from what is obviously contamination, the little fella near the center, around 7-8 o'clock, is mycelium of the good variety and I'll be able to pull some transfers from it before Godzilla encompasses the plate. Tried to get a picture from the top of the plate but, of course, the condensation is horrific and makes it impossible to see anything.

Hi everyone. I hope someone can advise this novice. I did swabs onto agar for the first time, plates all looked clean - only white fuzzy stuff. I took cuttings from 2 plates - 2 to make new plates and two into grain. New plates are growing fine but the grain has been contaminated. It was sterile grain, I sterilised the box, I used a mask and gloves. It's gone a horrible green mouldy colour and smells bad. What did I do wrong? Sorry for the word salad 🤦🏼♀️

It's hard to photograph with the condensation. I've been keeping them in the still air box, wasn't sure where else to put them. They're nutcracker spores if it's any help?

I did say it was my first time, I'll have a dig through and see what I find in the threads that might explain where I went wrong. It's 2 am here so I'm taking my ass to bed. Thanks for the feedback regardless 👍

Second time making agar or using it at all for that matter. First time was earlier today and I didn't use enough water so it came out like rubber cement lol. So now I just need to wait a few days to make sure there is no contamination before using them right?

To answer where you went wrong, the plates all look like mold, so I would say the steril work is where you started to mess up. Second would be your grain container of choice. I'm not sure what you got going on there but you really should invest in jars with proper filters or unmodified lids. The container, more then likey, allowed contaminated air into it through gaps around the edge or where your ships are. I also think you just noc'ed it up with mold unknowingly. Good 1 thing that most here sould commend you on, is that you went to agar first. You just need a little help with how to clean your culture up first.

Checked on things this morning.
This is what I'm calling the garbage plate - literally just poured the little bits of trash out of a bag recently occupied by some cubes:

Of course, condensation runs rampant. #1 priority on my next plates is clarity, I didn't spend near 10 bucks a piece on Pyrex just to not be able to see anything lol.
The black definitely looks bad, whatever is going on at 7 o'clock edge looks bad, but I think the outer edges look to be good mycelium? I have no idea what I'm doing, though, so
