Thanks!

I have been consuming this turkey tail in a tea form. In case anyone tries something similar…

This is what worked for me:

I purchased a (Govee) smart kettle which maintains a pretty consistent temperature.

I removed all the non fruiting body and ground it in a coffee grinder. Unfortunately, I was unable to grind it to a fine powder, and it turns out somewhat cottony. Then I purchased a mortar and pestle to grind it down further. It was extremely tedious and I could still not achieve a fine powder. So don’t get as carried away as I did initially with this step.

I put two grams in the smart kettle and added the minimum 2 cups of water. I set it to 176f and left for 2 2hr cycles. Total of 4 hours (my kettle time out at 2hr).

Strained out the water from the mushroom residue which was sort of a muddy sludge. Dried out the muddy paste in a dehydrator set on high. Placed the dry material back into the mortar and pestle and spent some more time working on it.**

Added the more finely ground powder to the strained turkey tail water and reheated to 176f. Then I use a couple hibiscus tea bags each in about 1/2 cup boiling water, then add my turkey tail concoction.

** this step was important since without doing this my end result always had a sludge on the bottom which was somewhat unpleasant, and it seems that the 4 hour soak made the 2nd round of grinding much easier. Without this the pieces just never get small enough to dissolve.
