sometimes smiling is unavoidable, I keep my eyes averted in public and avoid contact (still Covid mentality). Yesterday a woman in Brooklyn started dancing with me when I came in looking for Saratoga bottled water - I try not to encourage that too much.
I would rather play hard to get.
with babies it's different, lots of winking and smiling to get them to stop crying.

Did you dance with her, or watch?
There have been a couple of times in public I've had a very nice interaction and brief conversation with a woman, and she touched me (on the shoulder & once on the forearm)
BTW, neither woman asked for consent to touch me.

This morning on a run I was crossing the bridge and saw this guy admiring the view of the water. I smiled at him and he just lit up, raised a big thumbs up and yelled something enthusiastic, my hand went up in some expression and I yelled enthusiastically back.
The rest of the run felt easier

Reminds me of this story :
Recently I was sitting with a group of children, and a boy named Tim was smiling beautifully. I said, โTim, you have a very beautiful smile,โ and he said, โThank you.โ I told him, โYou donโt have to thank me, I have to thank you. Because of your smile, you make life more beautiful. Instead of saying, โThank you,โ you could say, โYouโre welcome.โ โ If a child smiles, if an adult smiles, that is very important. If in our daily life we can smile, if we can be peaceful and happy, not only we, but everyone will profit from it. This is the most basic kind of peace work. When I see Tim smiling, I am so happy. If he is aware that he is making other people happy, he can say, โYouโre welcome.โ

I laugh at the worst times, honestly. I have this thing where if I am hearing something awful or depressing, I start laughing. I also laugh when I'm nervous. I don't mean it as if I think it is funny. I laugh hysterically in public too, and at the worst times. I started laughing uncontrollably not too long ago during Christmas. I was right in front of a couple people playing the guitar and singing some church music. Something about one of them just made me die laughing, and I couldn't stop. I felt so bad! Some other people looked at me like "wtf dude?", and it made it so much worse I actually had to cover my mouth.

I've had other people tell me that or even warn me about it.
Crying and laughing both feel like ways the system releases energy
