arnold582 said: Holy sidepin batman! I took the sub out because I wanted to harvest 5 caps that were ready but I ended up harvesting 200 grams worth of mostly side pins that I've never seen before and I've barely touched anything growing on top.

I used a liner, so my surface conditions must've been pretty shitty during the pinning phase for that to happen. At least now I know where all that water has been going.
Side question, what's the best way to clean debris like coir off the shrooms?
Toothbrush works. You could just knock most off by hand, dry them then shake them in a ziplock. It will fall off and settel to the bottom of the bag. I personally just clip the ends off what have sub stuck to it prior to drying.
To Hillbilly's point ..... I am a member of the toothbrush gang where we brush the nubs when they come out of the substrate and then again after they come out of the dehydrator for good measure. I've never met anyone who likes eating horse manure.
PhreakFakt0r
I just cut that part off. I lose a bit of the mushroom but I only want to handle them once. Plus it's not like I'll have a shortage of them anyway. I don't weigh them until they are as clean as I can get them. I love people who post weights with half a tub of coir on the shrooms. Not referring to the OP on that. They are way cleaner them some of the ones I'm referring to.

Cross post from gourmet/medicinal thread. Trying my hand at C. Militaris. I am trying a bottle tek I saw online since I don't have a flow hood. After sterilizing the substrate in the bottles there is no need to open them, just inject LC. Hopefully that increases my success with these. I added an 1/8 of a teaspoon of gypsum to some just to see if it has any use with these. I gotta find somewhere to use the 5lbs I bought over a year ago.

I'm sure you could hide some exotics in there....

To be honest I've never really considered growing exotics in there but it's actually a damn good idea, I just need to find the correct exotics for the temperature because it can get very hot in summer and drops to around 5C in winter with day time tempsmof 20C +.

Tamps, caerulescens, and pans all do very well with potted plants, high heat, and high humidity. Both the tamps and the caerulescen will continue to fruit till they freeze and can tolerate night time low temps. They die when they freeze. I have had tamps fruiting still when the day temps were in the low 40's F. Halloween...
Like this.

I'm sure zapotecorum would be a good choice too. Semperviva fruit well but they stay very small.

I can confirm. Bisporus can grow happily even in daytime temps around 37C.

Took some Maketi last night and had the best trip of my life. About 20g plucked-to-pot (fresh/wet right into tea). Way stronger than I expected. Got through the John Hopkins playlist a few times and was still laying down — then I had to take the dog out. Anyways. PICTURES!
This morning was a weird little harvest. Some bigger Maketi side pins — one was 138g — and a thick Texas Orange Cap.

My Maketi has blown me away every time I’ve consumed them. First time took me by suprise. Didn’t expect them to be that potent but I’m not complaining!!!
Or am I.
