Slavery is still slavery, no matter where you serve.

If you want to go, go. I personally have no interests in the Sudan. I do, however, have interests in the Middle East.

But, but, my president said we went to Iraq to free the people. Are you saying that is not why we spend billions of dollars and a thousand lives?

So it is ok to frorce someone to work for the gov't? sounds a lot like slavery to me.

As Seuss clearly stated: If people believe in the cause, no coercion is necessary.

If coercion is necessary, then the cause needs to be closely re-examined.

Actually, when I think of slavery, I think of individuals reeping the benefits of the enslaved, not governments, but that's just what I think of.

Ok, fine, to all you bitching motherfuckers, how bout this, if you want to be eligable to recieve certain benefits (ie, social security, welfare, unemployment, etc) you have to serve the two years. You can opt out, but then you will be automatically exempt from select government subsidies, but you still have to pay taxes.

So instead of slavery we are robbed? Great deal there. I do not want any of those "benefits" by the way.

What do you mean robbed? What by paying taxes?

That's awesome, then don't volunteer. Hopefully you won't need those "benefits".

By the way, I know that my little tangent is throwing this thread off course, sorry. I'm just putting out an idea that was brought up to me by a good friend, and I'm just having fun with it.

You clearly stated one would pay for services and benefits which they would not recieve. Sounds like robbery to me.

I stated no such thing, I said nothing as to where the tax revenue would go. Do not put words in my mouth, my theory is flawed enough as is, shit I can barely type right now, the Beam and darvacet is working.

I made no mention where tax revenue would end up. Aw hell, screw you guys, I'm going to bed.

That's robbery in my book. But then again any graduated income tax is robbery in my book.
