No stone casting in here at all please. From either direction. This comment is perceived by me as stone casting and perpetuation therof.
I wholeheartedly endorse reducing or eventually entirely eliminating our plastic manufacture usage and waste. Every bit helps.

I see nothing wrong with my statement. I think it's good for everyone to remember that we're all implicated in these matters. I will however refrain from further engagement if you think it's for the better of the thread

It really depends on the plastic. Many plastics are biodegradable and made of quickly grown plants. But a lot of people just don’t really give a shit about the environment. You’d be amazed how much pollution goes into the manufacture of a glass Petri dish.

I thought it was a joke tbh. That’s true about phones, isn’t it? Both comments.
Bispo growers: what is a rough timeline to see pins? It colonized the substrate suuuuper fast. 3 days from s2b to full colonization. Just curious if there’s a reliable window like with your average cubes

I'm right there with you?
I thought we were all having a good ribbing, and come on, stones in plastic house is funny.
But really, it is very difficult to avoid plastic in this hobby. One way or another it is going to come into play. Let's not pretend what we are doing is an environmental net positive or even neutral in any way. Certainly less impactful than other hobbies, and at least we're tending living things.
I think about the only way to have a net zero impact would be to find a local active and recreate its environment in your yard. Storm debris/chip beds for us temperate zone folks, poopies for you sub tropical and tropical folks. Inoculate with stem butts and let em do their thing.

Mine always start to pop about 7-10 days post casing. Could take longer or shorter, but I always bank on about a week-week n a half, and they haven’t let me down yet!

I find it helps, but they’ll grow without one, I’ve personally not ventured into uncased but seems others have had good results without.

I've made 6 transfers in a SAB, without using the clam technique, because I wasn't mindful and forgot about it. I just took off the lids and put them on the rack, so semi-open air. I got 5 out of 6 completely contamination free, and a tiny spec of bacteria in the last one. If I can do it with a completely wrong technique, a complete novice no less, I can only imagine how easy it is for a normally experienced cultivator to get no contam.

Hi all, I'm actually growing cordyceps for the first time ( in jars ) , and I was looking in the net (google;youtube) and I heard that cordyceps is prone to degradation from the first culture (senescence ) and I am looking for a way to expand it , and going commercially so I 'm seeking someone's experienced to help me with this. Can I expand liquid culture indefinently from a syringe of LC ? If not what's the step to scale this up and grow uninterrupted ? Thank's

Your question is probably better answered on the edibles thread/page.

Pp5 containers have a higher failure rate for me and lower visibility so they’re really not practical, and glass is so unaffordable given how much I’d need to get by so I’d love to hear your alternate suggestions as this is something myself and definitely others here have often discussed before with no clear solution, and honestly the waste is minimal when compared to say, literally 99% of industries on any scale out there there’s bigger and better drums to bang on bro and my guilt has bigger fish to fry.
