How do young guys living in states or countries where all guns are either banned or severely regulated defend themselves?
    #28634360 - 01/25/24 11:03 AM (2 days, 7 hours ago)

Before the invention of handguns in the previous Millenium were common to the masses, the only way you could defend yourself from a bigger muscular guy would be to get jacked yourself and hulk muscles so guys bigger than you don't mess with you. With guns there's really no need for a guy to be big and strong to defend himself from a bigger guy or a woman to even date another violent big guy to defend herself from another violent muscular guy.

In states where guns are extremely hard to get and in countries like in Europe, nd Australia, the United Kingdom, and Asia where they're either outright illegal to extremely hard to get do men in those places feel the need to get ripped and jacked (some even take steroids) just so a bigger guy doesn't randomly mess with then and just so they can get a woman to talk to them?

Community.

A network of people I can rely on for self-defence and mutual aid.

This also has the benefit of greater built-in redundancy than focusing solely on individual physical strength, and I would guess was more common historically than a bunch of jacked peasants.

I’m Australian (or at least I was born and still live in Australia) and for almost 40 years now I have never, not once, experienced a moment where I thought me shooting a gun might remedy or rectify a situation.  Sure, I’ve experienced a moment or two of blind rage—and I’m fucking glad there wasn’t a gun anywhere near me.
If exceedingly few people have guns, then others don’t really see the point in having one. I entirely support your second amendment rights, entirely, but to me guns are a self replicating danger. “Oh he has a gun? I need one to protect myself.” Then someone else needs one, then others, until the whole population are armed and someone does something inherently evil—like knock on the wrong door asking for directions—and they get shot in the face.

That’s just my opinion.  I don’t have a problem with guns…just the mindset of some of those who potentially own them.

And I never had to worry about being gunned down at school. I walk around, work, play, and the idea that someone might start shooting just…doesn’t exist here.  I’ve also only ever been directly confronted with random violence against my person on…two occasions.  The first was handily dealt with by the application of jujitsu, the second by applying the handbrake and sending the offending meth-head off of my windshield and into the gravel by the side of the road.

That said we’re entirely unprotected if our government ever decided to go full dictatorship. You take the good with the bad.

Weapons are power multipliers as you are evidencing in your post (big violent man rendered equal to a woman or small male with a gun)
So just use a legal power multiplier I would guess would be many ppl answer.
A good knife?
Hell many a woman have fended off assault with just pepper spray and quick feet...

How about a weapon where you don't need to get within the bigger guys arms length to use it?

As a former young guy, and probably still a young guy to the eyes of the general population, the amount of times that I have had to defend myself is zero.

They carry knives.  Which are weapons just like guns are, except less deadly.

This is proof that gun control doesn't work.  People will always find ways to kill one another.  Banning the tool won't lessen this problem.

Of course gun control works. Look at the examples listed in this very thread.

It doesn't work in the US because we are a bunch of gun masturbating retards. Toddlers kill more people than good guys with guns, and the bad guys kill way more than both combined.

I own several guns but I don't keep them in my home. I keep them at my father's, because I literally have zero reason to possess them outside of occasional hobby shooting.

I live in a major metro, I have seen two guns outside of the police in 12 years. Having one is pointless. Feel free imagine all sorts of scary ways you will need your guns though.

I've got several guns and I actually took three shots last year with halfass intent to kill.
Two with a rifle and one with a pistol.

I thought the local ground hog community was trying to invade my house and I took two shots fucking around with my rifle. The first or second one I can't remember but I got a phone call from a neighbor asking what was up.

Third shot I got home from work and the bastard was scurrying out from under my porch so I took one shot aiming pretty low with my truck gun pistol. Didn't want to zing one through the neighborhood and missed his fat ass.

When I first moved in here the old neighbor lady said, "Now don't go killing my ground hogs" lol
I think she feeds them or something but since then we've come to an agreement that I get to kill them on sight.

Over the last few months of summer I methodically destroyed their closest underground tunnel system to my house. They're remarkably resilient in rebuilding but I started packing the entrances pretty tight with ashes from a burn pile and they really, really don't like that so they've moved further into the woods.

I know where they are and eventually I'll get one and feel kinda sad for a split second and then go on about my day.

(turns out there's a fucking skunk living under my house now but that's another story)

Be smart enough to have situational awareness

Learn to recognize bad environments and don't put yourself in a position to have to defend yourself

I've never needed deadly force to protect myself but I've known people that have . It happens .  It's random like getting struck by lightning or attacked by a shark .
I have allot of guns too , most of them are hand me downs for hunting , but I also have a 9mm Glock I keep in a lock box on my nightstand .  I've never viewed guns as a measurement of my manhood , we can just shake hands  and make eye contact if you want to measure yourself against me .  We will both know right away .  I don't view the decision to not own a gun a measure of someone's manhood either .
For me  guns are just tools ,  I'd rather have it there and not need it than need it and not have it .  I don't think I even need to shoot someone to protect my family I could just simply fire a shot through the ceiling ,  99.9 % of bad guys  and even most good guys are going  to run away from the sound of gun fire .

I like guns, but I've gotta ask: How many times have you shot someone OP?

All the serious gun people I know have never shot someone, so this argument doesn't actually make a lot of sense even if you like guns. Like if some big beefy dude starts trying to fuck with you, what are you gonna shoot him? Come on.

I only go around armed when I'm walking my kid in his stroller and only then because dog owners are incredibly stupid about restraining their mutts.  I don't wanna get bit while I'm stomping some pitbull's skull into the pavement.
