Id get a telescope 🔭 but I don't have a good view of the stars here, I don't know why but I swear it's worse than Toronto but that can't possibly be, but even on cloudless nights which are kinda rare here, there's only a few stars to be seen, it really sucks

Professional use of the telescope emoji dude- really shows what we're talking about here. Shitty about not being able to see many stars, I'd hate that. Feels lucky to live somewhere that 30 mins walk & you escape a majority of light pollution. Still cloudy a lot, but generally get to see a lot of awesome stars. Maybe go the opposite way and get yourself a microscope- a big fuck you to outside conditions!

From that article. The nebula is a hot bed of new star creation and there’s even a picture of a new solar system forming.

Been wanting to fuck about with one but space (waheeeey) is at a premium (currency too) I've kind of wondered about settling on a smaller scope w/ decent tripod that could be used for nature viewing and just some slight enhancement/focus on the night sky. Nice pics.

Yea I have had some cheap visual scopes in the past (untracked 6" newtonian from Orion), and now I have a small entry-level imaging refractor, tracking mount, and a dedicated monochromatic astrocamera with filters for true color and narrowband imaging.
Even with a small scope, you can get some good results on the larger deep-sky objects, and most people just start with a cheap 135mm camera lense, a dslr camera, and a star tracker.
Here's a few of my old projects, I think I've posted most of these in this thread already. The first picture is the Orion Nebula.

 These are stunning man!
Sounds like a dank setup, I've looked into the gear a bit before but it can be hard knowing what specs etc are important to focus on. Appreciate the info- hadn't even heard of a star tracker til now. Likely end up with a cheap scope & tripod in the meantime (I'll scour 2nd hand) but the DSLR route seems legit cos I could eventually get the required shit to use it for myco & nature pics as well, will have to do some reading on it all.
