Peptone in a master slurry?

I got some peptone for LC, stumbled across the master slurry idea and Im thinking that's the best option. But I've got 100 grams of peptone that's just sitting here.
Since you're already here, let me ask another question; do you still have to test LC made from a master slurry?
Any suggestions or better ways are always welcome.

Test LCs. Period. If you're getting to the point when you're making LCs then I feel you should be always making plates to keep them ready or at LEAST be making tester plates at the same time or shortly after inoculating your LCs so that you have them available. We always talk about testing here but we hardly ever mention the GMPs of hobby mycology and having agar plates available for those moments that come up is definitely a GMP. Like, ever seen that perfect clone and been like "shit i'm out of agar and dishes and I gotta order everything and fuck I don't wanna run to the store right now damnit"
Like, just make the plates and keep em ready.

What is peptone, and why do people use it? I thought it was for bacterial culturing and not for fungal.

Depends on the type, soy peptone works for fungi, usually people use it as an additive for LME agar. I've used it and I still don't know what to make of it, it seems to make some difference but it can probably be attributed to having more nutrients in general. Just like using any other grain flour instead of BRF.
OP beware it doesn't dissolve properly in water so you'll have floaters in there.
