Hard to tell with these plates being blue (pre bought)

As their initial spore syringe to agar showed green mold after 2 weeks. I took these transfers before then. I think they look well so far?

Above - spore syringe to agar

Below first transfer

yes that looks good just keep transferring from the fastest growing, most uniform looking leading edge. i would transfer from bottom pic, bottom left, very rhizomorphic looking flare there personally. they all look ok except maybe a few weak looking or erratic areas. you could take from anywhere as long as it looks uniform and clean.

No problem.

FYI Aspergillus niger is toxic and can be pathogenic. It is the notorious "black mold". A close friend had it growing in his brain.... He almost died and lost about 10% of his brain. It took him many years to recover and he never will fully. That is by no means common but good to know about. Aspergillus niger is common worldwide and present to some degree in most environments so don't worry too much but don't go sniffing around at that plate either. Put it right in the trash.

Boofing black mold spores, for science...

Is this mycelium or contamination/mold? This is my first time trying to grow. I have no idea what I'm doing - trying best to salvage some BRF cakes that never started fruiting (broke them up in coco coir). But I have no idea if what I'm looking it as good or bad. Thanks!

I’m pretty sure this is mold on top of mycelium, but I’m in denial about it so hoping for a second opinion.

If it’s mold, anything to be done about it, or is this just trash?
