For as long as I've been into mushrooms of all sorts and on these forums...17ish years now...
...I still have never cultivated a single mushroom lol.
I hunted for and harvested patches of mushrooms many times over the years, psilocybe cyanescens and psilocybe allenii, but never truly grown one myself. Once I started to find patches of active mushrooms I didn't really need to grow since I'd have plenty to last me all year, and now I have a friend who grows so they're easily available...but I do want to grow some just for the experience/hobby, and interested in trying different/less common species and varieties.
The closest I've come to "growing a mushroom" is using stem butts/some colonized wood chips from the patches I found to colonize more woodchips and then planting those woodchips in a few spots...One spot I planted in a riparian-woodland habitat and it actually fruited one cluster of 3 or 4 fruits the following year. Another time I had some chips colonizing in a bag in my backyard, it fruited once just a few months after being placed outdoors and then once again the following fall after the chips were placed on the ground in my yard.

But starting from spores and cultivating a proper outdoor patch or indoor tub/tote, I've still never done so.
I plan on getting a small tub/tote going sometime this year though, it's about time lol. And once I find a patch of cyans or allenii where I live now, or get my hands on some woodlover myc/spawn, I'm going to get a pot/planter box going outdoors.

Nobody here has ever grown a mushroom in their life and never will because mushrooms grow themselves

I'm glad you have it under control. Yea, it's good you know what you don't need. Forcing a trip is not a good idea lol

Sad no. I was going to try and built a fruiting chamber. Had kids in the house though so decided against it. Instead I tried and failed to grow oysters on cakes for some reason. It contaminated.

Mushrooms aren't real, they are just government spy ground-penises, and this site has an invisible .gov on thw end of its URL. Those hyphae grow straight from your monotubs to NSA headquarters.
You heard it here first.

Many, many years ago, yes. There's nothing quite like the taste of a fresh pin. Cubensis is still my favorite mushroom of all time.

No. I am not sure about their legality here, but would like to try, if they are indeed legal.
Although I would probably need to grow them in pots. Lack of space and such.

Learned how right here on the shroomery. It's been a few years. Finding edibles and cloning them was my favorite aspect of the hobby.

Cubes are cool too.

Honestly I don't know how the first person was brave enough to eat a mushroom like that. Its so scary-looking.

It was too intrusive with my kids about at a certain stage so I stopped. They're all senior high school now and talking about university and stuff in the next couple of years, it'll be great to grow again.
