I have three plates that I inoculated with a pe mss. My only agar experience is cloning pins from a pf tek. Does any of this mess look viable? Thank you in advance!

Whatβs that agar recipe dude? Itβs pretty manky but appears to be working, Iβm just not sure if the growth is due to the agar or contamination but maybe the leading edge from the top left myc in the first pic, (Edit: centre top left, not that thing in the far top left, didnβt notice that) it might have something clean in it, transfer it to a brf puck maybe, or a water agar plate to be sure though.

I expected the agar questions. I ran some wbs and whole oats through the coffee maker. It looks like puke but worked well for cloning in the past.

Its really not hard to mix up some malt extract and water if you don't want your plates to look like vomit...

It's even easier to use what you have on hand. Also the appearance doesn't bother me. But if you had any input on which plate I should go with...

Well, because your agar has a bunch of shit in it, its very difficult to tell if the growth is bacterial or mycelial.

I thought I read somewhere that grain flour was an acceptable nutrient for agar? How does one achieve clarity with grain flour?

Do you not have access to Amazon, or a local brewing store? A bag of light malt extract might run you $5.
But if you're insistent on doing things your own way, you're likely going to continue to struggle.

top plate tiny piece from the large 2 center blobs at 12 o'clock and 3:30 from the lower center.
That recipe is pretty rough to discern what's contam.

Doing things my own way? Using grain flour is referenced in the agar write up linked in the Hitchhiker's guide. But thanks for your input

Not everything dissolves completely, some agar recipes will be cloudy.

Grain WATER is a resourceful way to make plates out of the grain run off that you used to hydrate spawn. I don't think there is a tek from the past few years that recommends blending whole grains into a powder

I think you need to start again with better advice. That is almost certainly cube mycelium but, it's completely shrouded by obvious contams. How did you sterilise those agar plates?

Make some better Agar & do what Bobgas says. Keep transferring small samples till it's clean.

Plus what does it matter to make a few new plates, a little time and effort but it will be worth it. A few drops of spores?
Your not trying to fruit on your agar and nutrition is way overboard either way... You can get amazing results with just grain soak water LC/agar.
Nobody is trying to be mean they are just speaking from experience, it's harder to tell on that kind of background what your looking at compared to like looking at jello...
-------------------- Quote from Stipe-n-Cap "You appear to be talking about boosting tryptamine content in mycelium by amending LC with....whatever your amendments are. I have to say I'm a tad disappointed that you're addressing us with the shorthand of a 13 yo girl who's texting her besty for make-up tips, instead of proper English, which causes me to have doubts."
