It's kinda like smoking one cigarette and getting caught and your dad forces you to smoke the whole pack. Getting black out drunk and hungover should teach you not to drink. And once the OP experiences shrooms, they will also understand the difference between alcohol and shrooms. I stand behind my "baby steps" method for the OP. Be safe. Be well. Good luck.

Some people are naturally less sensitive to the more mystic effects of mushrooms, especially those of us with strong scientific and/or materialistic backgrounds. I seem to need about twice the dosage other people report to get equivalent effects. And they CAN be less visual than other psychedelics. Try using in a dark place, while listening to some calming, preferably instrumental music. Coincidentally, that was the way the native people of South America originally used them. If you like electronic music, psytrance is ideal.
Rather than getting silly drunk or trying random non-psychedelic drugs (feel free to smoke weed e'rry day if it helps you cope with this shitty 21'st century, though...) you should consider reading a ton of information about psychedelic drugs, the process of the psychedelic experience, and the methods available and used over the centuries for accessing and manipulating a psychedelic mind space even without drugs, such as meditation, breathing exercises, and adrenaline-intense experiences (historically induced by sexual rituals and/or fear rituals.) So yeah, do understand Alice in Wonderland and Plato's Allegory of the Cave. Understand Buddhism and Hinduism, even if you do not believe in them.
If you have time for nothing else, Michael Pollan's "How to Change Your Mind" is a good modern overview.
Some classics are "LSD - My Problem Child" by Albert Hoffman, and "The Doors of Perception" by Aldous Huxley. Tim Leary's "The Psychedelic Experience" is worth a read to understand it's place in history but do realize that it's kind of outdated and relies on a lot of inaccurate cultural appropriations from eastern culture. All of McKenna's stuff is great, some of it is far out there, ride with it until you understand it's meaning.
But nothing has given me better insight into understanding this alleged reality than the collected writings of Robert Anton Wilson. And it wasn't until I read his autobiography, Cosmic Trigger, that it all really came together.
This quote is interesting. I wouldn't say I'm a scientific method or critical thinker person at all. No emotions either. I think I'm more big picture focused than anything. Materialistic and not able to trust or depend on others for sure too. I'm pretty religious because I've seen signs and and had coincidences, but I can't really say I understand the whole spirt stuff mentally.
I might look into some of the books. A few years ago, I think I got into a bit of the Alan Watts recordings a few times and even being straight edge then, it was pretty perceptional changing with so me of that stuff lol. Like you don't need a voice in your head to function. I think there was some stuff about just focusing on sounds with your eyes closed that really messed me up for a good week too lol.

I have only drank once about a year and half ago. I hate beer and maybe have only drank 12 mikes lemon aids and some icy red drink before that over about 20 years lol. I haven't touched stuff since. I don't really get low dose drinking as It does nothing for me and the stuff taste terrible.
Pills ya may have a point but I do work with a shrink with that hehe. Not perfect by any means but the ADHD diagnosis and medication was a huge game changer for me.

Soul Flight said: Howdy. You gotta admit you are a newbie and a rookie. I recommend gateway drugs. Get drunk maybe 5 or 10 times. Start drinking alcohol. Maybe just 1 or 2 beers on Friday nights. Maybe a 6 pack. Then try some hard liquor for a few Friday nights. You will learn what a "buzz" is. Try doing a few hard hangovers or drink until you black out. Nasty stuff.
Next, try marajauna and some prescription pills and other "gateway" drugs. Do the mild drugs. Just dabble here and there.
After a few months or a year, try mushrooms.
Mushrooms can be slightly similar to alcohol maybe in microdosing. Maybe you will get the giggles or feel happy. But there is no comparison between alcohol and mushrooms. Alcohol is an anesthesia. Mushrooms are a psychedelic experience. Mushrooms are way stronger than you understand. Your reality can break and it can last for 6 months. You can pass through the looking glass and go down the rabbit hole. Reality is inverted. Your mind and your "self" is inverted. Exercise extreme caution. Take a crash course in drugs and alcohol. Learn about your body, brain, mind, spirit, soul, and consciousness. After this self education, try mushrooms and start very slowly.
Understand Alice in Wonderland and Plato's allegory of the cave. Understand Buddhism a and Hinduism. You may die and be reborn. Ignorance is bliss. Consider yourself warned Lol!
Be safe. Good luck.
Great influence lol! I'm not sure about the MJ. I grew up in a strict religious house hold and there was a smell in the house that I later found out in my 30s was the MJ. I then remembered finding a plant out in the woods that my friend and I found but we were like that stuff only grows in south America. IDK the stuff seems to mess peoples up that do it. My dad is pretty forgetful now these days. Then again idk i did hear the stuff helps sleep so may look into it. I defiantly wouldn't smoke the stuff as my dad got in a huge argument with his family about his teeth.
not sure what to try after that. Im not even on caffeine anymore lol.

just 4 ADHD stuff- A combo of Concerta, a pick me up dose of afternoon Ritalin, and trying out a small dose of Strattera because the other stuff is losing effectiveness. I only had Adderall work for me for a month. The Ritalin side seems less drug resistant but it's starting to creep up now.
Sleep- Lunesta. Thought I had sleep apnea but it's just insomnia.
Past that do more of a paleo diet with popcorn and fruits to keep my sugar up so I have some chance of actually sleeping.

Howdy. We are totally miscommunicating. I recommend you start with caffeine. The gateway drugs. Take baby steps. Learn about your own brain and your own perception by altering it with mild stimulants and drugs. I suspect you are not ready for shrooms. Give it time. Experiment with the legal drugs like caffeine and alcohol and nicotine and prescriptions. Try marajuana just to learn about your brain and perception. You need practice and experience with mind altering substances. Understand The Matrix films, Alice in Wonderland, Buddhism, and Hinduism. Contemplate consciousness.
I am worried you are massively underestimating shrooms and how they can put you in a mental hospital for a few months.
Keep doing research. Be safe

Man. Don't do the gateway drug advice. What the hell? Sheesh. If you don't like alcohol, keep it that way. I used to drink quite a bit. I'd never get blackout drunk but I'd definitely be intoxicated on a regular basis. I still have a beer or two occasionally. But alcohol can make you feel like absolute shit. I've been smoking weed occasionally for a few years. It's definitely way better than alcohol. But it puts me to sleep. Shrooms are way better. I only started last year, but it's definitely better than drinking or smoking weed. I feel good, happy, and I never feel like shit after. I sleep good too. I have actually found that I drink and smoke less too. I feel healthier since I started shrooms. I pretty much just micro dose and follow the schedule on here. I have taken some larger doses a little over 1g. I'm currently not taking any because I want to take a bigger dose here in a couple of weeks. Maybe 2.5g. SSRIs are known to cause issues with shrooms having an effect on you. Shrooms have also helped me get off of the SSRI I was taking. Getting off of that SSRI was the best thing I've done for myself in years. I don't feel dead inside any more. You could try that if you're still on an SSRI. Get advice from your doctor on weening yourself off of your SSRI.
My doctor told me to cut my pills in half. I was taking 10mg of Lexapro once a day. So, I started out taking a half dose for ten days straight. Then I took a half dose every other day for ten days. Then a half dose every third day for about 9 days. Then I was done. No issues coming off of it. But I'd still check with my doctor if I were you.
