I think the idea is to eventually create a humanoid robot girlfriend that has the intelligence of AI, and also possesses the ability to simulate sex, to the extent it is able. And I have heard of artificial wombs, apparently some company in Europe is developing pods where a baby can be grown in. If this tech is mature enough to be used in said robo-girlfriend, there will be no need for real women, lol.

Just like in Brave New World by Huxley. Everyone takes soma and uses birth control because the babies get made in test tubes.

Great question. I imagine its like a real girlfriend: she texts you, sends you pics maybe even videos, talks to you when yout text her, "face chat". The only big difference will be you cant meet her irl.
I think this romantic tech will appeal to guys who dont take rejection well or are afraid to take romantic risks.
Furthermore, i think the reliability of having a simulated person to talk to romantically or platonically whenever you wish is the real appeal. There will definitely not be those types of situatiobs but imagine this one:
A guy is at a resturant and doesnt know what to order: "AI-lly, should i get the orange chicken or the lemon chicken?" or "AI-lly, should i get the Agent Orange or Caribbean punch weed today?". She answers back with her own "opinion" of some sort and then the guy makes a decision based on her response. Maybe you disagree with her sometimes but other times shes helpful. Its kinda like choose-your-own-adventure for everyday choices, with the same AI-simulated girlfriend you are familiar with. That would probably be one of the biggest appeals.

Let's just make robot replicas of ourselves who will go to work and do our jobs so that we can stay home and tend to our hobbies.

That is, more or less, one of the most positive intentions behind automation. Unfortunately, it doesn't quite mesh with your typical Western/capitalistic ideals. Eventually, I figure we could witness a paradigm (and by "we" I mean humanity, as it may not fall within our own individual life's timescale), whereby automated and semi-self-sentient robotic technology could serve most of our productive/maintenance needs as a society, thus freeing all humans from mandatory labor.
This type of society would likely synergize with some sort of communist implementation. We all know communism is a dirty word, what with how it's been implemented thus far and the corrupt greediness that has tarnished its base intent. But if we are able to reach a level of self-sufficient machine technology that has the ability to support all of human society's practical needs, it would seem to be the most appropriate political/economic system to embrace.
