Many fungi do produce some neohaplonts, or monokaryons, at their leading mycelial edge from spontaneous dedikaryotization, but you cannot count on this. So there is actually a remote chance it could work but, but generally speaking no, it won't work this way.

And there's no such thing as a stupid question when it is sincere.
