Moore and Stern Take On Bush
    #2862310 - 07/06/04 07:52 PM (12 years, 4 months ago)

Moore and Stern Take On Bush

He's likely to become one of the most influential men in American politics -- and he's not even a politician. Michael Moore's scathing anti-Bush film, "Fahrenheit 9/11," has earned more than $60 million at the box office, and Time magazine made Moore this week's cover boy.

According to Time Senior Writer Richard Lacayo, Moore's movie could potentially cost Bush a second term in the White House. "Moore's been able to make this film very quickly and drop it right into the most potent moment in the election season," Lacayo insisted.

"Fahrenheit 9/11" paints the president as incompetent and uncovers Bush family connections to the powerful Bin Laden family. Meanwhile, the Bush camp has called Moore's film a "pack of lies." But in attempt to be fair, Moore set up a "Fahrenheit war room" to deal with the accusations of inaccuracies.

Moore has even employed former Clinton administration officials to deal with the media blitz. But it seems that the director has got a new best friend in his mission to remove Bush from office -- radio icon Howard Stern.

Stern has been on a daily radio rant against the Bush administration, saying he's been unfairly targeted by the FCC for indecency. So could a Stern/Moore team be enough to get the president out?

Lacayo told us it's amazing how much these two could sway the election by working together: "Taken together, Michael Moore and Howard Stern are both at the top of their industries: radio and film. They both have an enormous audience, and together, they'll be punching away until Election Day."

With four months until the election, there's still plenty of time for campaigning and plenty of time for America's newest power couple to make an impact. Meanwhile, Moore is already eying his next target; he will focus on HMOs and the healthcare system in his next documentary.

And for more on Moore's latest film, and the implications it may have come Election Day, tune into Tuesday's edition of "Extra."     :headbang: :yesnod:  :goodluck:

Bush better start packing. And I don't mean for one of his vacations either.

I can't stand Stern and i'm on his side 100%. The radio station I listen to will get fined upwards of $250,00 for a violation. This is pathetic and i've been quite surprised when I talk with my "conservative" relatives and they're all for it while claiming to actually be a "conservative". So much for the less government thing.

I don't understand why people can't just change the station if they don't like what someone has to say. Besides you don't censor bad speech, you battle it with good speech.

I dont think an eight year old accidently turning on the radio needs to listen to Howard Stern, move him to XM or something that has the ability to be monitored better.

Just like TV does not allow nudity and all that sex chat on the public airwaves.

I don't think most eight year olds that accidently turn on the radio would understand what Stern was saying, let along be interested enough to listen.

And while we are on the subject of kids... why should my right to listen to whatever I want on the radio be impeded by people that want to have a safe environment to raise their children? I have not had any children because I enjoy my freedom too much; I don't want to be locked down for the next 18 to 20 years. I have nothing against people that do have children, but why should a parents rights have more weight than my rights? We should be fining the parents for not watching their kids, not the broadcasters for entertaining the masses.

Why dont they let porn on ABC...

Fine, a 12 year old turns on Stern accidently, what then. And your right to listen to whatever on the radio? Go buy XM.

If the parents want to have their kids listening to Howard Stern thats their decision, but if they have a radio in their room while their parents are sleeping, they can listen to him at night after the parents sleep. Im sure there are plenty of other scenerios as well.

> Fine, a 12 year old turns on Stern accidently, what then.

Not my problem... I don't have a 12 year old, nor do I own a TV... why should it be anybodies problem, other than the 12 year old and the parents of that 12 year old?

I know that I am being difficult here... but I am trying to make a point. Just because somebody has children, they should not be granted some mystical 'child protection' shield at the expense of the rest of us.

You want kids, fine, but don't go pulling down my porn theatre because you feel it is inappropriate for your kids to have a porn theatre in their neighborhood. Sorry, it isn't their neighborhood... it is our neighborhood, and children shouldn't be cause to grant people extra votes, better privledges, or anything else.

> but if they have a radio in their room while their parents are sleeping ...

Again... why is this my problem? I don't have kids so that I don't have to worry about this sort of stuff... there is no way I would bring a child into this world, could I help it... but because you do have kids, I am expected to suffer? Screw that.

They wont let kids into porn theatres, as they wont show porn on public tv, as they shouldnt have sex chat on the public radio. If you want your porn you have to pay to get it, Americans dont have a right to free porn on the airwaves.

In some countries in Europe, they'll show sex on network TV, and the kids there seem to turn out fine. We shouldn't have to go on with a society that pretends sex doesn't exist in the hope of "protecting" our children from it.

Why not? I can tune into any number of free 'get your dose of God' stations on public airwaves... I find that sort of programming equally offensive as I do porn...

Still boils down to the same arguement... people with children seem to think they should have more rights than people without children...

Actually, I was in Germany once, flipping through the channels, and they did indeed show sex.

You say topless women, I say sex... I am offended if my children see a bare ankle on TV, it just isn't right...  where do we draw the line, and who decides on the line?  Why are we drawing lines again... oh yeah, people with children think they deserve...
