Cooking with psilocybe cyanescens 3

Hey folks. I was inspired last year by the presentation here - https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/28163575 - and some of the discussion in the thread. I'd been waiting all year for hunting season so I could try it myself with some fresh picked cyans.
I found them to be rather tasteless fresh and uncooked- mostly tasting like nothing and water. I was curious how much flavor may be imparted on them.
We settled on something dead simple... mushroom topped steak. For the mushrooms, all we did was saute them in butter for a few minutes over medium-high heat. We cut off the stems so the caps could cook lay flat pan. We served them on top of the steak, and poured the remaining butter over the top. I suspect the mushrooms picked up some of the salt from the top of the steak.
All-in-all, absolutely delicious. Slight caramelization + butter + salt for the win.
Highly recommended and would love to hear other's experience cooking with magic!

The trip was nice. Had a mellow walk through a park for a few hours with some nice light visuals. Based on my experience drying these cyans, we probably ate somewhere between 0.5-0.75g dried, and the effects were pretty similar. As in it did not feel like any substantial amount of the potency was cooked off.
Beef stroganoff would be nice but I would be personally worried about not knowing how much I was eating. That’s why we settled on sautéing the caps and using them as a steak topper. Easy to fix or adjust the amount per serving.
We also considered chopping the same amount into a small chopped mushroom medley with other non magic types. Maybe next year .

Interesting. I’ve found that taking them on an empty stomach yields better results and generally plan for a light meal hours before I take them. I guess cooking them doesn’t deactivate them at least not too much. I’ve considered eating them fresh since it’s reportedly much stronger but tend instead to avoid the taste altogether with powder in capsules. Maybe one day I’ll give that a go. How was the taste?

The taste was excellent. The mushrooms caramelized a bit, so the combo of some sugar + butter + salt from the steak was really nice.
